Yep, he has clarified that he doesn't have the skill to ride in the rain! LOL

Yep I agree that Rossi threw away 25 points but ask anyone in any competition, they all like to be upfront, not finish last even if it means collecting points. Its a shame to ride to finish and even JL himself said that he thought of stopping...

Yep, they all like to be upfront, but you have to agree, the ride was inconsistent by Rossi's standards. It would have been better to sit behind someone for some time, and make the eventual pass, as he has been known to do. Often.
I think he did get a little riled by people catching up, and well, then things went off.
As for Jlo, it was sheer luck that he managed to get any points at all, and definitely not of his doing. But points are points, yeah?

German GP tomorrow!

The 2016 MotoGP Thread-screenshot_20160716190937_com.ksmobile.cb.png

If the weather demons stay on the circuit tomorrow, there's another Assen GP in the making.

JLo has crashed twice this weekend and is out of top ten in the grid for tomorrow's race.

Qualifying results:
1. Marc Marquez
2. Hector Barbera
3. Valentino

Hope Vale doesn't do an Assen again.

Re: The 2016 MotoGP Thread

What a race that was! Absolutely amazing! From almost crashing to winning the race. Marquez was on a charge. The gamble paid off, brilliant strategy by Honda. Crutchlow too rided beautifully!
Lorenzo just looks hapless.

Rossi pitted with Dov and Cru. But still finished 8th. How?!
I know he switched to intermediates. But did Dov and Cru go full slicks like Maq? I am sure they must have. There's no other explanation!
What a shame!
I still believe Rossi lost last years championship by being too stubborn and not pitting on time. Maq won that race. I think it was Misano. And history repeats itself at Sachsenring.
This was his best chance at taking as many points out of Maq and Lor, but he threw it away. Disappointed. Massively.

Re: The 2016 MotoGP Thread

Awesome race and brilliant guy with right strategy won it.
It's a shame that Rossi repeated the same mistake of not pitting at right time even though his pit guys were crying for it and eventually paid for it. He lost the last two races by himself (of course last year's championship also) without proper strategy in his head.

It was an exciting race no doubt. But Yamaha would be as frustrated as Rossi fans for not coming in 5 laps earlier. Atleast a podium could be been achieved. So much experience yielding no results in such scenarios is extremely frustrating. Rossi's risk taking ability is well past expiry date, but still fast rider.

Lorenzo's German GP was an absolute nightmare. Many crashes means he had zero confidence. Solace is finishing the race.

At half way through the season its Marquez's championship to lose from here on.

Brilliant strategy by Honda to send out marquez on slicks (he did not make the choice and did not even know what set up was waiting when he pitted) when majority were switching to intermediate. Rossi had a strong chance of a podium finish if he had trusted his team when they asked him to pit. And what brilliant ride by crutchlow!

The doctor seems to have major red mist issues. He's not going to win his 10th like this.
It was dejavu, and terribly frustrating to see him ignoring the calls to box over and over again.

Cal was on slicks, front n rear. Dovi was on a front inter n rear slick combo

Re: The 2016 MotoGP Thread

Rains have all the bikes on level playing field as the factory bikes are slower, which gives the open class riders a chance to put up a fight.

Sad part is that the open class bikes are sometimes unstable, which is what we saw with Petrucci in the initial stages of the race when it was raining. He rode brilliantly to take the first position in the race, yet he crashed out.

A brilliant gamble by Honda though! Marquez was lightning fast when he came out of the pits. The best part was watching him go crazy fast on the dried out racing line! It seemed as if he was in the MotoGP game wherein you can follow the racing line .

Lorenzo anyway has a tough time during the rains. Especially after the crash in Assen few years back which had his collarbone destroyed! One of the most dangerous crashes during the rains in MotoGP. Ever since he has struggled in rains and at Assen. Some horrifying incidents are never forgotten apparently.

All in all, a good race though.

Hope to have a close competition when the riders come back in August.
