Jonas Folger signs with Tech 3 yamaha for 2017 season.

Tech 3 Yamaha has confirmed the signing of Moto2 race winner Jonas Folger for the 2017 MotoGP World Championship.

The 22-year-old has secured a one-year deal which also includes the option for an additional season and he will take the place of the KTM-bound Bradley Smith at Tech 3 Yamaha

The options (in possible order of preference) could be Vinales, Pedrosa, Pol Expargaro, Alex Rins. Pol hasn't proven much yet and Yamaha is not interested in directly getting Rins on a factory bike.

In this scenario, the best option after Vinales would be Pedrosa. It would possibly be a good move for him too because the Yam is said to be more suitable for his style of riding.

One thing I don't agree about the article is that Pedrosa is looked as an ideal team member to back Rossi. No Motogp rider plays second fiddle to his team mate, atleast not as long as he is mathematically still in race to beat him. Pedrosa being a more mature rider may not jeopardize Rossi's race though.

About Cal to factory Honda, it may not be so easy. Honda is interested in Rins too and may offer him a factory ride if Yamaha balks.

Agreed,
Relation between Pedrosa and Movistar is more than 10 years old. Movistar was main sponser for Dani pedrosa during his early career on 2 stroke bikes, where he won 3 world titles (one 125cc and two 250cc championships) for Movistar Honda Team.

I'm a bit surprised about Folgar's deal with Tech 3. He is a good rider but never rose above 5th in championship standings in his career. Herve should know better!

Looks like Pedrosa's signing with Yamaha is a done deal.

Here's the snippet from Friday roundup of motomatters.com

"The news, published by Nadia Tronchoni of respected Spanish newspaper El Pais (link is external), is that Dani Pedrosa has already agreed terms with Yamaha for 2017 and 2018. Tronchoni – arguably the best journalist in the MotoGP paddock, both extremely knowledgeable and extraordinarily reliable – wrote as fact what Simon Patterson of MCN had reported earlier in the week (link is external). Whereas Patterson's sources had told him only that Pedrosa's switch to Yamaha was being very seriously considered, Tronchoni asserts that the deal is done."

If this news is indeed true and if M1 suits Dani's riding style, he will have his best chance at a world title! He very much deserves one..

Very nice video! He is probably the most charismatic rider ever in motogp and his ability to connect to fans is second to none. At this moment, the sport thrives on his presence and it needs him to continue for as long as he can.

Looks like Lorenzo is the man to beat here at Le Mans.

My prediction for the race -
1. Lorenzo
2. Marc
3. Rossi
4. Vinales
5. Iannone
6. Pedrosa

I think, I went bit overboard with my prediction, but still.

Lets see :D.

EDIT
Come on guys, no activity on race day?

Few post back, some one mentioned about beating the F1 thread.

Not too sure of Marquez finishing second. He is too unpredictable!

Don't rule out Iannone from podium / fourth position

Watching the lap videos of Yamaha, Honda and Ducati on the Le Mans track, the Yamaha has amazing corner speeds!
The Honda and Ducati bikes seem more sharp on throttle response and braking

There wasn't anything interesting to watch on tv and so tuned into TEN2 to watch the Moto3 race.

What an amazing race it was! Had no idea who the racers were but that battle for the top 3 places was a treat to watch.

These riders are Brad Binder, Fenati and Navarro.
Binder had won the last race in Jerez from dead last on the grid!

Thats the most bizzare crash. You can watch it on and on, totally unbelievable crash!

Another master class from Lorenzo!
Awesome performance by Rossi, overtaking Marquez and Dovi!
Amazing synchronised crashing by Marquez & Dovi

That was a class act by Rossi, and for Jlo, back to business I suppose.
But still, its fantastic to see the old goat fighting through the field.
Ducatis, that pace is tremendous! I think Jlo will receive a better ducati.

The two musketeers fall, that was easily the funniest bit. MM was working his tyres too hard, or maybe he just got distracted?
All in all, a good catchup from the man.

That Honda is still not easy to ride. At All.

Read in one of those post-race articles that Rossi's DNF in Austin will not amount to much since MM is bound to counter that with atleast one DNF of his own! lol:

Hopefully VR can continue with his qualifying form, with this one being a one-off, and continue to get wins and podiums consistently, the championship is wide open with almost nothing between the top three now.

You gotta feel for Ducati, although regular unforced errors will certainly justify Gigi Dalligna looking out for better riders.

What class acts by Vinales and Binder though! Amazing racing. :thumbs up
