Re: The Formula 1 2020 Calendar - 22 races & 7 back to back race weekends!

Red Bull and Verstappen had a mega weekend last year, bogged down at the start and then came charging through! LeClerc Vs Verstappen clash was titanic, though he should have left more room for LeClerc. Hoping for a similar fight this weekend. Can Force India be the dark knight this year? Also was reverse grid qualifying implemented or will be the exact same weekend next week?

There are absolutely no changes in the format of qualifying, Mercedes apparently vetoed the idea of a reverse grid format.

Red bull have been traditionally strong at circuits such as Austria, so im expecting them to really take the fight to Mercedes here.

It is going to be an interesting season to say the least. There is absolutely no scope for error given how short the season is. Mercedes, Red Bull and Renault seem to be bringing substantial upgrades this weekend.
Ferrari on the other hand are completely changing the design direction they are going with and are bringing a major overhaul to their car for Hungary. This means they will be running a testing spec car for the first 2 races in Austria.

Racing Point who have a car very similar to last year's championship winning Merc could be real dark horses and might even grab a podium.

Not surprising since their car is set up to be driven away from pole position, not fighting at the rear end with all the hot dirty air of other cars. Would ve made for much more exciting races though.

The WRC is much better in this respect, fastest man at the end of the day gets to sweep the road the next morning!

Finally Action starts tomorrow afternoon!

Though I will miss the screenings at my local pub sipping my favorite brew. Best way to spend Sunday is the evening races.

I am not sure. Right now there is no F1 showing in Hotstar sports menu. One reason I got Hotstar was to watch F1 as regular cable sometimes blacks out during monsoon.

I don't think so.

I did the same. I subscribed to Hotstar Sports Pack just for F1. Having not opened the Hotstar app after 2019's season-ending Grand Prix, I was checking yesterday if everything is in order for this weekend. And to my surprise, F1 isn't on the menu at all!

I have subscribed to Disney+ Hotstar on Apple TV and in the channel listing it shows Star Sports Select HD 2. I guess it should show F1, first time I will be trying F1 thru this medium so not sure.

Cheers

Re: The Formula 1 2020 Calendar - 22 races & 7 back to back race weekends!

Mercedes absolutely dominated the first 2 practice sessions yesterday. Behind them however, the field was very jumbled up with Racing Point looking like the closest challengers. Ferrari, Red Bull, McLaren and Renault all look very closely matched.

Results in link above.

Vettel knocked out in Q2. Ferraris are long way off the pace.

Damn! Ferrari slower than RP, Mclaren, Red bull and Renault. Vettel out of Q3. Bad times!

Re: The Formula 1 2020 Calendar - 22 races & 7 back to back race weekends!

Tyre allocation and spec set by Pirelli for this year's opening races.

Same specs as Austria allocated for the Hungaroring as well.

Predictably C1 hard specs only for CdC and Silverstone. I hope we get more than these 8 races!
