The Formula 1 2020 Calendar - 22 races & 7 back to back race weekends!

Liberty Media has released a draft of the 2020 Calendar; a very crowded 22 races!

Quote:
F1's 70th anniversary season gets underway with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 15 and, as usual, it will end with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit on November 29.

Along the way there will be seven back-to-back race weekends and two exciting new additions.

Vietnam will become the 34th country to stage a round of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, with a race in the dazzling capital Hanoi on April 5.
A race in Vietnam! Let's see what Hamilton has to say about that.

Record-breaking F1 calendar set for 2020

- 22 races
- 7 back-to-back race weekends
- First ever race in Vietnam (5 Apr)
- A return to Zandvoort (3 May)

Sad to know German GP being axed. Luckily Spanish GP is saved.

Wow, a jam packed season. I think they should start utilising Dec-Feb period as well and have a separate concurrent development and testing regime for the next season. More races and comfortable for the drivers and the crew as well.

Will be excited to see how the season pans out. Wishing the Indian GP comes back soon!

Re: The Formula 1 2020 Calendar - 22 races & 7 back to back race weekends!

In 2020 the Dutch GP will return to the F1 calendar and here is the aerial view of the reprofiled Zandvoort circuit.

The biggest talk point regarding the circuit’s facelift is the new banked final corner which will be steeper than that of the Indianapolis circuit which formerly hosted F1’s United States Grand Prix.

Dutch Grand Prix sporting director Jans Lammers has to say “No modern circuit has a banked corner integrated into the actual design of the track, so May 2020 will not only be a comeback of the Dutch Grand Prix, but also a comeback of the banked corner in F1."

Any bhpians planning to visit Vietnam for the GP? I have been planning to attend one next year and Vietnam seems to be the best bet given the costs. I want to sort of combine the GP weekend with some family vacation as well, so looking at Vietnam in that angle.

I am also contemplating, but thinking whether I should go the next year instead since there is news about plans to run the engines at higher RPM from 2021 onwards to improve the sound

I'm planning to attend the Vietnam GP. My complete itinerary is planned and I'm about to book flights & hotels. However, just today morning some websites have rumors that even Vietnam GP might be postponed or cancelled due to CoronaVirus. I'm whether to go ahead with bookings or wait.

What took me by surprise was the ticket prices of Vietnam GP! I expected it to be a little lower than the typical prices that we have in Europe or even Abu Dhabi. But if you see the prices, they are almost at par! The only saving grace is that hotels and other expenses would be cheaper. Im yet to make up my mind, since it was always going to be family trip with my wife and kid, im now starting to contemplate if I should actually just do a separate holiday to Europe minus the GP, since the dates too are not working out for the Vietnam GP weekend.

In last 12 years I have attended many GP's. I've been to Nurburgring, Sepang, Buddh Circuit, Yas Marina etc. However while comparing ticket prices of various circuits during the years I have attended Gp's, its more or less very similar.

Lets say when I visited Indian GP in 2012, comparing prices with Sepang or any European race that year was almost similar, again depending on which stand you opt for. Cheapest are general walk-in stands but its no fun. I usually book a stand which is at the end of the longest straight of the circuit, that's where most of the action happens.

But all the GP's have been a part of my holidays / vacation plans and I only attend Raceday on Sunday as I find practice & qualifying is too boring and waste of time and money.

Ferrari unveiled SF1000, celebrating 1000 Formula 1 Grand Prix races. By the looks of it, its the same last year concept, with tweaks here and there, along with tighter package at the rear similar to Mercedes.
