Daniel Pedrosa topped both, FP1 and FP2 today, followed by Capirex and Vale on combined times.

Make no mistakes, Vale is looking strong too. He'll sport a special livery in traditional 'Azzurri' blue dedicated to his national football team for their opening match in the UEFA European Championship title on Monday.

He has already ruled himself out of the title fight when he slipped to 28 points behind championship leader Valentino Rossi following his crash in the race at Mugello last weekend.

The bike looks beautiful in this livery.

Race Result

1. Daniel Pedrosa
2. Valentino Rossi
3. Casey Stoner.

Daniel rode a good race to escape at the front. But, the ride of the race was definitely by Vale. Awesome battle with Casey Stoner. What a ride to get through from 9th in the field and finish 2nd on the podium!

Vale still leads the Championship but jus by 7 points from Dani.

Yup. Great ride from Vale.
But Dani was unstoppable today, Rossi couldn't match his pace.

Exactly! With those Michelins having an upper hand, Dani was really unstoppable! God knows what lead would he have pulled with the pneumatic valve engine (if it were to surpass this conventional engine). Vale with his Bridgestones came close to Dani's laptimes in parts, but couldn't do so consistently, and hence couldn't match his pace...

Thanked: Once

The pneumatic valve engine was actually giving way, and hence maybe Pedrossa would not have even finished the race if he was using that engine.

The Yam's now increased in horse power, which is clear from the fact that Rossi came out of Dovi's and Hayden's slipstream on the straight to overtake them. Even the Duke could not break away...in fact Rossi overtook Stoner towards the end braking late on the straight itself.

I think the championship may end up being purely between Pedrossa and Rossi, and Stoner might give a scare in between. Assen and Donington Park, if it does not rain, Michelin has the upper hand.

Pneumatic valves are the talk of this season eh?

Exactly Turbo! Yamaha have definitely closed down the top end grunt gap between themselves and Duke. Don't you think it was one of the reasons why Vale had a grin on his Helmet at Mugello?

Even Colin and Toseland with their Tech3 Yam's equipped with pneumatic valves( not again! And damn it wouldn't affect top speed much!)have been able to raise eyebrows of people at HRC and Duke.

Donington Park is like a second home race for Vale, hope this would help him to close down on whatever advantage Michelin would hold. Also, Yamaha and crew had stayed back at Barcelona to do more tests with the Bridgestone tyres. Ahh...Why is 21st June so long???
