If the KERS does fail mid-race, can they bypass it or is that end of it?

I read that it takes around 3 to 4 hours to complete replace the faulty KERS kit from a car!

So its DNF if KERS fails mid-race

Sakhir - 19/02/2009 (after all sessions)
1 . F. Massa - Ferrari F60 - 1:32.162 (+ 0.000 - 113 laps
2 . N. Heidfeld - BMW Sauber F1.09 - 1:32.225 (+ 0.063 - 122 laps
3 . T. Glock - Toyota TF109 - 1:32.445 (+ 0.283 - 65 laps.

From Next time will surely do that anyway it was a cooling issue regarding the KERS for Kimi (17/feb/09) and Massa Suffered a gearbox issue and also Electrical problem in each of the sessions (18/feb/09) and on 19 feb it was trouble free running except for a bad cable that was soon replaced without losing much track time

I am sorry I think each company has to implement their own design.

You mistook it with the ECU deal they had bagged from the FIA.

Sighhhhhhhhhh....the wait seems too damn long. The Melbourne GP has usually opened the season around the 2nd week of March. Why is it toward the end this time around

ITS BEEN ANNOUNCED THAT the Singapore GP organizers want fans to name the turns 1, 7 and 10 ahead of the 2nd Grand Prix to be held there this year. Also note that names must have strong local connections and be no longer than three words including "turn" or "corner"

Best part is each "corner" winner will receive a three-day pass and pit lane tour for this year’s race!!

Entry details at link below..

Minor updates on Ferrari's testing @ Bahrain

Ferrari reintroduces 3 paddle steering wheel in 2009.

The topspeed Ferrari reached in Bahrain was 311 km/h. This is the same as Kimi's topspeed in 2008. Massa did 314 km/h in 2008.

Two engines were used during the eight (well 6 really) days of testing. One engine covered 2,400 km (two race simulations were carried out with it).

The tyres worked well on the F60, although generally the medium and hard compound were too hard in Bahrain.

Dozens of different set-ups have been completed now. The search for performance would begin from here on.

The flap of front wing was slightly modified making it more efficient.

The different rear wing with more space in between the planes was used three times, each time only shortly. This will be seen again during the races.

Singapore Grand Prix
It would be wonderful if they just remove the SingaporeGP off the calendar! I am tired of these street circuits in F1 and the SingaporeGP was just awful!

The tarmac surfacing last year was so bad that most of the cars had their wooden plank shaved off completely!

Those are aerodynamic suspendors used to measure the airflow pattern behind the front wheels. This is simply to validate their windtunnel readings on track!

Renault is in talks to replace the outgoing title sponsor ING with an Indian multinational, an official has told the Indian news agency PTI.

In the wake of the Dutch bank ING's decision to withdraw from the sport at the end of the season, a senior official of Renault India said negotiations for its replacement are already taking place.

PTI said a possible visit by Fernando Alonso to India this year would be indicative of Renault's desire to widen its fan base in the populous country.

"Currently, talks are on with a major Indian multinational for sponsorship," the Renault India official is quoted as saying.

He did not go into details beyond saying the talks ‘are ongoing’.

The most prominent Indian sponsor already involved with F1 is Tata, currently with Ferrari but previously affiliated with Narain Karthikeyan at Jordan and Williams.
