Hyundai Verna CRDi. EDIT: 263,000 km up and SOLD!

Hi Guys

I have gone through your review and experience. Planning to buy Verna Crdi or Fiesta Tdci or Tata Indigo Dicor . Confused which vehicle to be purchased . Gone through lot's of reviews and find Ford having *** problem + high maintenance cost. Tata is also in the same boat except maintenance.

Ford Sales person are now saying that they are changing their attitude and spare cost is also decreased and I have read some where in the newspaper.

Therefore I am totally confused !! Can U please help me to get rid of this.

verna is a bit on the lower side as far as spares price are concerned.great car to own if you are a speed freek.

Word of advise: Ford is in-a'ford'able for the spares. rest you decide.

Thanks for adivises. I'm sincerely thankful to the TEAM BHP becuase of you people I'm stumped the FORD Sales person .

Where did you do this? Bareilly or Delhi? Moradabad doesn't have a Ford dealership.

Dont know which cars are u comparing with but in comparison to Accent CRDi the spares of Verna are very costly.

i was comparing the price of verna spares and fiesta spares.definitetly verna will cost you more than accent as its almost a lakh of rupee difference in the car price itself.that will translate into spares price .

Sales Person of Bareilly. They are planning to meet me personally now to convince me that ford a.s.s has been improved ,spare parts cost reduced & blah blah ..

hey it all depends on the person whom you are interacting.dealer to dealer ,person to person the a s s differs.be carefull and check out the different matters personally and then take a decission.

Hi,

I own a Verna CRDI SX which has done 7K Kms now, but there is one bit of info that has stumped me. The hyundai website says that all Verna's have the Key not removed warning. How does one test that?

I tried to open the door with the car keys on and I did not hear any beep. I used to be in UK and owned a 98 SEAT Ibiza (same as VW Polo) and this one has a nice feature of the car beeping if you open the door with the keys are not removed. Wonder has anybody else tested it. Also, I miss the key ring glow (the glow around the keyslot visible in the dark ) which is not present in the Verna.

But otherwise I am very satisfied with the car. Had taken it to ooty via Masinagudi and was simply amazed with the torque on this beast. In fact I could approach curves faster and not have to accelerate at hairpin bends at all (in second gear). The torque makes sure that the car climbs with full load of five persons and decent luggage. Also , having Discs all round helped while coming down. I could see other vehicles (read Sumo, Tavera, Zen, local jeeps) struggling but me..I never had a problem even though I made sure I was in second all the time and not accelarating in between curves. I am simple amazed with this car.

congrats on your SX.Loads of torque as you said.But how was the handling in speeds above 100.Did you find the car rocking too much?And which tyres you are using.

I changed the tyres from MRF ZV2K 185/65 to Michelin XM1 195/60. I did not have an issue at 100K speed.It is only when the speedo touches 140 that I find the car very edgy to drive. Usually do it only when I can see straight clear stretch of road. Do not have the will to take curves on the same speed.

This thread seems to have ended abruptly. Could anyone throw some lights on the Verna CRDi- SX - the current lot as I figure there were soem minor issues in the initial lot and now that its coming with ABS & in SX trim too. In terms of thrill and fun factor- how is it rated, thats performance and handling terms. And FE & VFM also .

After reading all the threads posted, i decided to go for the Verna CRDi ABS version, please do let me know which is the best tyre size 195 or 205 with R15 also, i found that the Petrol XXi version has all the featuers and is one lakh lesser than the CRDi with ABS which has very few features. Something when i asked the sales guy had no answer to this.
