What is system D? I don't know anthing about it.
As such i don't think AC might be a reason as the Engine sound is higher then before even without A/C.

Available at BP petrol pumps and recommended with normal diesel.

The Fiat diesel engine which sits inside the Swift wouldn't give any major trouble for atleast 150,000 kms.

The clatter / knocking from the engine could coz of the filters or timing.

The car is now 30,000 kms young, and running well touchwood.

Monsoon has really played havoc with Delhi roads this time. Most of the roads have more potholes than vehicles plying on them. Huge jams and torture on the car's suspension had to be endured.

Occasional dashboard rattles have crept in along with the left door rattling coz of component speakers installed without any damping. Still contemplating whether to go for damping or not. Everything else os quite well with the car

Completed my 30k service at Fairdeal Cars, Sahibabad. Break up of the costs

Oil: 3.1 l @ 210 per liter = 650 (Mobil Delvac super 1300)
Oil Filter: = 375 (approx)
Oil Additve (Liqui Moly) = 400 (approx)

Also got the break pads cleaned. They looked in good shape and should last me another 10k me thinks. Got tyres rotated. Will go in for balancing and alignment somewhere outside.

Air filter was also cleaned.

Total: 1600 (inclusive of taxes).

Service charges of 700 bucks were waived off this time coz I am a regular customer.

The biggest grouse I have with the car currently is the tyres. Getting pretty regular punctures, almost one a month and in different tyres. But that could also be due to the fact that there is a lot of construction going on around the approach road to my office and the last 100m or so are absolutely wicked. That might account for the nail I find in tyre everytime. Some scratches, mainly on the wheel arches have also started showing.

Other than these, the car is doing wonderfully well. She needs a new steering cover and a steering remote. Hopefully, will get those done.

Edit: The car is now running on regular BP diesel since the IOC COCO is now closed and the BP is the only other COCO in my vicinity.

Nice update Eddy, I think you're one lucky bloke to get the service charges waived on account of being a "regular".

Btw, I've switched to BP as well recently since the IOC one just after the border had started imposing rationing on 4 wheelers for no rhyme or reason - yet, they kept filling up the jerrycans for the gensets!

Is this Engine oil synthetic ? Its prices doesn;t indicate that. I remember last time when I got my car serviced, their OEM engine oil had price tag of around Rs 600.

Nopes. Its mineral and costs the same as your oil (approx 650 bucks for 3.1 litres)

I just got a new Vdi delivered on Monday and I am also facing both the issues.
I have completed around 400 kms till now. Dont feel the turbo kicking in arnd 2000 RPM (though i havent accelerated suddenly till now because of running in period)
Also, RPM shoots up sometime when i downshift from 5th to 4th or 3rd gear.
Will see, if i am making some mistake (like accelerating a little while changing the gear)
How were your issues sorted out ? they just went after 1st service ?

Time for an update guys. The odo now reads 36,000 kms. Have done the following on the car since I last updated:

- Wheel alignment and balancing from T-Mart Gurgaon @ 310 Rs
- Oil and Filter change at a local MASS. Had purchased Castrol GTX-Diesel from gurgaon and the filter during my previous service station visit.
GTX Diesel @ 650 Rs for 4 litres.
Filter @ 375 Rs

The FE continues to hover at around 20.5 with the AC being off most of the time. Using BP regular diesel.

Deeps: Sorry missed your query earlier. The turbo whoosh does come once the engine settles down and the RPM surge will go down as you get used to handling the torque of the car better.

How do you manage to get 20.5 given that I need AC to be on else it fogs the front windscreen badly. I run AC level 1, 100%

Time to update the signature?

Hain, why do you need the AC to be on hamesha ?
I generally drive with windows rolled up but for the last inch or so and just the blower at level 1. Try that.

And yes, now for the signature !!

Something that feels nice to grip but does not heat up if the car is parked in the open for long.

Try a brand called SOFTEX, claims to be genuine Italian leather steering cover.
Got it fixed on my Swift VDI, cost me around Rs.350.00.
I feel its really worth the money spent.
