Status :
The service guy told me that the car would be ready by today morning. But it wasnt ,as the Drive Shaft has not arrived. He told me that it would arrive today , but it didnt. I called him up today evening and he says that the Chennai plant doesnt have the drive shaft for this car and either it has to be imported from Korea or removed from a new car.

Undead - see if you can call up HMP Chennai (you bought the car here, right?), talk to someone you are acquainted with and ask about whatever is delaying your car from being back on road. That may give you an idea...

Well, I am going to the service centre today to have a look. Lets see whether he can give me some good signs . Before calling HMP , shall I mail to the Hyundai Customer Service Directly ?

Ummm... It is upto you - i am not sure how the customer service can be of help, HMP should know if they have something in stock in their service, and if it is not, how long will it take to procure it. But then, Customer Service too may have some kind of a central database to look things up - so why not both??!

And i think "Importing from Korea" is a bag of chaff - the car is manufactured here, and i dont think something like the drive-shaft alone will be an imported component.

I went to the workshop to check out the car. He said the drive shaft hasnt arrived . I went and asked the parts manager and he said the consignment has arrived from Delhi in the morning itself and scolded that guy incharge of not knowing it. I got little angry on the guy incharge and told him to get the car readied by today evening. So (i hope) today evening i will be getting my monster back.

Ask the service center guys to return all the parts which were replaced to you, so that you know that they were really replaced.

I thought the old parts will be given to the insurance company by the dealer. Or do i have to get them from the dealer and later give it to the insurance company ?

Yes they are supposed to be given to the insurance companies, but usually what the insurance company does is dump the stuff on you and deduct some amount from your final bill as salvage. ie you are supposed to take the stuff. End of the day what most people do is leave the stuff in the service center itself.

Went to the service centre to take delivery of the car. I was little disappointed with the work . The bonnet was not properly aligned with the fender. The polish wasnt done properly. I pointed him all that and he said , he will do it in half an hour. I said , you take some time and do the work properly and will take the car tomorrow morning. The final bill will be around Rs.70000.

My views on the change of tires :
1. The wheelspin is no more, which i had with the stock tires.
2. The steering is very slightly heavy (not much difference though)
3. At 140kmph , the car is stable .
4. Couldn't comment about the tire noise and also the comfort levels now.
5. Braking at high speeds is good .
5. Overall , the change is good for me . At Rs.3500 per tire , i feel its good value for money.
