Do any of you'll know whether the K&N Filter for the Polo 1.6 is out yet cause AFAIK they aren't out yet, any news or will have to import?

There are some minor changes in the current model versus my version -
1) Rear power windows not operable from driver's seat
2) New electrically adjustable outside rear view mirror.
3) No remote opening/closing of windows. So you are left with no option to close/open the rear windows without opening the rear doors or reaching out your "boomer man" arms from the driver seat to close the rear windows.
4) Some software tweaks - more accurate F.E measure in the MID. After 1st service and s/w upgrade I find the changed behaviour too.

I had got the rear bumper replaced after I got rear ended by a vehicle. I have posted all costs incurred. (Post #156)

IMHO it is because of the braking ability. Bumper quality is superb

In my case, I don't know what to say... My better-half reversed and hit a pole bang in the middle of the rear bumper. Now the rear bumper is cracked just above the number plate.

The reverse parking sensor that I installed seems to have a mind of its own.

A few days later, someone in her office reverse into our car's front and broke the front number plate.

Zero free services. Service interval is 15K kms or 1 year, whichever comes first.

Better to check with the dealership as I am sure the Reverse Parking Sensor is within warranty period. Something might have gone wrong may be after the impact. It won't be more than a 10-15mins. job as at most the rear bumper needs to be removed and parking sensor connections to be checked.
Malfunctioning of parking sensor can cause severe damage to your as well as others car.

YES, it is already available locally with K&N dealers for VW Polo 1.6L.

I believe I wasn't able to communicate clearly what I wanted to share -

In my Polo, the steering wheel, tilt slightly (~ 5 degrees towards left) as its normal position when I switch off the engine (there is a 'Khut' sound and steering tilts towards left). While driving there is hardly any LHS pulling, provided the steering wheel remains at its perfect position (no tilt towards left, which is not always the case, unfortunately).

Sorry, didn't make this clear though I had mentioned it earlier.

I waited more than 6 months for VW Downtown to get me the reverse parking sensor that I had already paid for. They kept saying that there was a problem with the earlier reverse parking sensor and that VW is going to send some soon.

Finally out of desperation, I installed one off-the-market called "Voyager". It looks good and costs less, but I haven't been able to fully understand how it works.

This is not for Polo 1.6 India version. The one we have in Polo 1.6 is a flatbed filter while the one you have here (Part E-2997) is a cylindrical one. I doubt it would fit in a Polo.
The one in a Polo looks some what like Part No "33-2920".

All,
Unfortunately within a week of the 1st service (which included fuel filter change) my new fuel filter got clogged. Can't really blame anyone but my luck as I had been filling from the same fuel station for the last 4 years without any trouble.
On starting the car a sharp whistling sound was being emitted from around the front of the right rear wheel area (the fuel filter is located around the same place). This was accompanied by poor acceleration, roll-on and FE, though it never stalled.
I booked an appointment with the service station and took the car in, last Saturday. They took a first look (read hear) of the car and pronounced it to be a filter issue. Took them 30 minutes to get the fuel line (filter to engine bay) cleaned using high pressure air jet and fit a new filter. Bingo - the sound vanished, performance back to normal. Total cost Rs 490/-

Along with this work they applied another Campaign Job (Software / Firmware upgrade) - additional 30 minutes. This time it was numbered "48i8" and was related to the power steering. I noticed something strange during the upgrade process - Once they connected the computer to the car and started the diagnostics process (needed before every upgrade), there was one step where the computer tried to fetch the VIN from the car. That step failed and the system asked the user to enter the VIN. I asked the service manager and his reply was - this happens only in the 1.6. For 1.2 and Diesel the computer will automatically extract the VIN but for 1.6 it fails. He could not provide a reason for the same and said that VW had instructed them to follow the manual entry process for 1.6. Must be a s/w bug.

Till date my car had received the following software upgrades -
1) 57D7 (applied during 1st service)
2) 97T9 (applied during 1st service)
3) 97U2 (applied during 1st service) and
4) 48I8 (applied last Saturday after filter replacement)

The changes I have noticed after these are -
1) The power window auto roll down issue (for late entrants - the driver side power window will automatically roll down, while you try to close it, without presence of any obstructions) has never occured after the 1st service.

2) The MID Average Fuel Efficiency figure has become more accurate and now matches to my actual tank full to tank full measurements. Earlier it used to show around 1 kmpl higher than TF to TF figure, now it is absolutely on the spot.

3) The "steering pull to one side" happened to me only twice in the last 16000 kms - has not happened after the 1st service.

4) On sedate driving I am getting FE figures as high as 17.9 kmpl on the MID. If you combine this and the point # 2 above, this might as well be a real improvement - no impact on performance noticed yet. But before I claim any radical improvement, I must have a larger sample of data to support my claim. Next time I get on the highway (and am not in a hurry) I shall try to extract max FE, measure using TF to TF method and post the results here.

Wow!! 17.9 FE for Polo 1.6 is mind blowing.

I have been keeping a tab on your thread since beginning, even though I never posted. I was at the VW showroom in Pune on last Saturday. I TDed 4 cars in all. Polo 1.2 diesel, Polo 1.6, Vento petrol and Vento diesel.

Ofcourse no doubt Vento diesel is the rocking one out of the 4. But, the dealer said there is atleast 4 months waiting for Vento diesel. Also, Polo 1.2 diesel will take 3 months to deliver and Polo 1.2 petrol will take 2 months. Polo 1.6 can be delivered in flat 15 days. Thats what I want.

So out of the remaining 3, I thought Polo 1.6 is the BEST bet of all. You are getting all the technical specs and all the features of Vento petrol Highline and Polo 1.6 is exactly 2 lacs cheaper than Vento petrol Highline.

Paying 2 lacs more for the bigger boot and slightly better legroom at the rear, did not make too much sense to me. I am sold for Polo 1.6 as of now. Lets see how things take direction in the coming 1-2 months. Most probably, Polo 1.6 would be my next car.
