Hi Morphin, thanks for your message. My views on C-class changed upon seeing it. I found the external looks pretty good. I agree there arent some features available but then it also has some things that others dont. In my search i have found that generally amongst all cars in any segement there are certain things that each one will have as differentiators so one should actually see what is useful and applicable to him/her and give it a higher weightage.
Some things that make C-class Petrol favourable to 'me' are:
-OTR pricing of 31.5L (Mumbai) as against A4 which is 35.6L
-Lot of car/engine controls (Service reminders, tyre pressure,etc)
-Ride quality is great
- I felt other features were comparable to BMW 520d.
Things that i dont like is the Biege interior and no option to change it

GTO, thanks for sharing your experience. Last year i actually started with BMW 320D but some how dilly dallied and didnt end up buying. Post that i thought Accord was on cards and waited hoping it will be great VFM. I had the budget for the C/3/A4 segment but waited for accord as reviews said accord will be comparable to c/3/A4 in terms of features if not the snob value. However that according to me isnt the case. I felt accord un-inspiring to drive and to large to carry it around. Also refinement isnt anywhere comparable. I am sure you know it far better as you have been driving C-class.
Your info on What to expect in terms of maintenance is extremely helpful and will help me make a more informed decision. Also good to know that your experience in terms of A.S.S from Benz has been very good.

Anyone here who can share the A.S.S expreience with Audi????

diki24 do check with you local dealers for any reposed cars that have come in. This would enable you to get your hands on reasonably used cars for a lo cheaper. The BMW guys in Bombay have got such cars done about 1500kms.

Correction. Some dealers have started offering a 2 year extended warranty (for a total of 4 years) at the cost of 30 - 40 grand per year.

What GTO says is absolutely correct! If you end up smashing a headlamp on these machines you end up paying 40,000 from your pocket (75K Headlamp settled @ 50% by insurance + excess clause etc). That's too much!

Your safest bet is Accord (repairs are expensive but not in the league of the Germans).

If you are too inclined for the German stuff & willing to give it a shot, IMO don't wait till Jan. Obvious knowledge is ... year is ending, dealers have stock to clear. Believe me, they can be willing to even sell off the car at no margin basis. Now, if you can bargain...the safest bet will be a 320d with 3yrs/90K BSI+R with BA Insurance & BMW Secure. Try squeezing the dealer to release this whole package near 30 lacs. (I saw somewhere in one of the forums that the 3 Series is waiting for a face lift. Use this info as well while bargaining.) I bet, the above combo will end up even safer than Accord.

diki24, i am waiting for an review from u on the A4. Its funny, but i was to make a similar thread, firstly i was intrested in a SUV around 20 lakhs and later changed my mind for the german trio .

My dads not letting me buy the beamer as he thinks that if i by mistake i get into an accident, the media is going to go all crazy (LOL). Anyways, so i am left with C Class and the A4. At the moment i am favoring more towards the C class as firstly, its a manual. I have driven enough automatics, as i was in the US for the past 5 years, and just love driving stick shift. The second reason why i am favorign the C class is because of the "uninspiring" A4 CDI :(. Anyways, ill be taking a TD soon but if u take it before me, do let me know how the A4 feels like it. IF you can, take pictures of the interiors of the A4 CDI.


BTW, I took a TD of the outlander, the interiors and everything was good, but i felt that it looks like a MUV and not a solid SUV.

Wow that's great to hear.I thought T&T motors was the only dealer in Delhi NCR region.
Can you please shed some light as to which dealers are offering this extended warranty.
Also I don't understand as to what is the role of T&T motors.

As BeamerBoy mentioned you can get a good deal in the month of Dec for BMW, I think you can get even for the C class.

BMW and C class have much better road presence then Outlander. I somehow didn't like the outlander much when I saw it on road.

LOL, your Dad's wisdom has got me thinking as well now, . I didnt get to TD A4 over weekend, as they were completely booked. the dealer has told me that he can give it on tuesday/wednesday.
I didnt feel Outlander's interior as premium vehicle's. though looks are pretty good. Also i felt the Steering wheel a bit heavy for city Traffic. On most of the turns i needed both of my hands on the steering wheel.

BeamerBoy, thats a great info. Would you know comparitively, how much woudl a similar damage on Accord cost ??

Also for BMW 320D package, did you mean 30L OTR? If so then that would be awesome off course. Anyone know how much that package costs OTR in Mumbai without any discounts ??

diki24, i actually took a test drive of the Audi A4, it was fantanstic. I personally just loved it, while sitting in the car you do feel as if you are sitting in a car which is worth 30 lakhs. Personally i found the interior of the A4 much more attractive than the C Class, now i am a bit confused all over again.

BTW, Test drove 3.2 petrol, going to be test driving the diesel version to see wht is the real difference between them .

Also GTO had mentioned about the front heavy driving of A4? could you feel the difference from C Class, which is Rear drive??

BTW, i will taking the TD of 3 Series as well, tomorrow. The dealer told me over the phone today that he would give me decent discount due to facelifted version coming soon. though he said he can disclose the discounts only upon meeting in person.

Agreed. Audis interior quality is a notch above Benz + BMW. In any class. I felt the same after a spin in an A8 too, definitely better put together than the others. And that's saying a lot!

And you aren't sold?! That car is a monster. Whats better is that it sounds like one at full throttle.

I Just keep on asking my self, how bad the A4 Diesel could be ? lol. I Have fallen in love with the car and the diesel version really needs to SUCK for me not to get the car. The looks are so appealing, the interior is so appealing and i the sound of the car when in full throttle, atleast of the pertrol, was just sick. Will be TDing the diesel version in the next few days, and will keep if anyone, updated .

Well the Okhla showrrom of Audi which i visited, had the diesel and the salesrep told me that the on road price for the diesel A4 is about Rs. 33.5 lakh and about Rs 42Lakh onroad for the 3.2 petrol.
Even i loved the interiors of the A4 and the part where the interior locking knobs are missing and have lights instead hehe.
Only reservation with Audi I have is build quality.With VW owning them I dont know how far the apple will fall from the tree.Also the new Laura/Superb share interior styling cues from Audi.
This has got me thinking about the C which has better ratings from JDpower on reliability as compared to the A4 though the C class does not feel very special from the inside.

If you are worried about the Audi's build quality, stop worrying. The cars are built like a tank. VW is one of the most reputable car manufacturers in the world and even thinking that they build cars of sub-par quality is ridiculous. Don't forget that they also make the Lambos and Bugatti Veyron

Anyways, having owned a BMW in the past and currently owning a A6 3.2 Quattro, the cars are rock solid and a absolute pleasure to drive
