I was a little skeptical about the K&N when I went to the shop, but I had some extra money so I figured why not and just put the stock replacement filter in my Zen. When I first srarted it I didn't feel any difference and I was pretty slow, stopping at all signals for a while so I did think like it was a waste of (extra) money, but the moment I went into third, I knew the K&N was doing its job. When I drive to work, I rarely get to experience it, but at night and early mornings (or sometimes in the back lanes!), I enjoy what the K&N has done to my Zen.

I wonder if I should put a slightly higher performance (conical?) K&N in my LPG Esteem now...

Its available with many accessories dealers here in Hyderabad. Check out the Minister Road stretch. Also, there is a shop next on the Paradise-HDFC bank stretch (I think M&M motors). They store K&N filters for sure.

Is it worth fitting a K&N on a Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDi ? IF yes, which one is recommended ?

Hey there Amey,

ITs definately worth putting the K&N in ur Octavia. Go for the Conical one, that will give u a good boost, costing around 8-10,000/-

If not, u can go for the Stock Replacement, and thats also real nice!

Hi,

My K&N replacement is okay - nothing spectacular though. The engine notes have improved - initially the FE improved but now I am not so sure. I tried swapping with the OE temporarily and the OE gave better FE.

One thing to consider I guess is the heat factor. If it is very hot outside - Chennai can get very hot - then I am sure hot air intake will affect performance.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
-P.

Got my stock replacement K&N filter for my Swift last Saturday 30-9. Didn't notice much diffence on the way back. But, that evening took the car out for a longer drive on a highway. And man! The car had become more peppier and drop-dead silent! Haven't checked out mileage - mileage not being the highest priority item for me.

Great investment, if I do say so myself

Stock filters do make the engine feel smooth and rev nicely. I haven't tried it on a petrol car, but it sure did that on the Skoda.

Plonked in the stock replacement K&N in my newly aquired OHC AT and it surely does make difference in acceleration. I feel the engine breathes easier too. Havent checked on the FE bout should know that soon.

dippy, i fitted the K&N air filter. i feel a very slight difference in acceleration. i dont know if its the mind playing tricks or its really a difference.

i had read elsewhere on the forum that i need to reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for 15mins and connecting it back. is this true?

i purchased it from sound factor at lavelle road and the chap said he wasnt aware of that.

JK could you pls elaborate on that.

is it true that it needs to be done. after that according to me i should drive normally not rev her like crazy. normal driving should suffice so that the ECU can acclimatise to the new settings.

am i right?
