Karthik,

Disconnecting the battery for 20 mins or so and reconnecting does reset the ECU in the Skoda - but I dont think it erases any fault codes. Also, for the first few minutes on such kind of resets the ECU behaves a bit madly.

Just to demonstrate this theory I took help of a Skoda mechanic and did the battery reset first and drove - jerky drive and gave me a sporadic error code - adaptation error when monitored with the VAS. Happened twice - same thing happened when I installed Triphase since I reset the battery using battery disconnect technique. Then used the VAS for reset there was no error code and the ride was fairly smooth.

In my understanding, if you reset the ECU after a modification like K&N and drive hard the ECU sets this as the base pattern of driving but then adapts as your driving stabilizes over a period of time.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
-P.

After disconnecting the battery and connecting it again when u switch on the ignition, the speedo goes all the way upto 180kmph and comes back to 0kmph and then the check engine light goes off.

Is this only in my car, Lancer.

I have a Power Flow air intake in my Honda City. Its one of the HUGE and BIG sized beast made from wire-mesh and sprayed with the filter oil. The only draw back is that they take a bit more dust, but on performance, they are definately better and water is never a problem!

Has anyone installed this on an Optra 1.6? I did, and I do notice the car breathes more easily and the RPM moves up much faster with little rev.

I left it over at FRK Racing - Bangalore a month ago and the guy installed it for me. There is quite a difference in performance.

Any idea how this was installed? The guy told me that he added a few capacitors / resistors and fooled the ECU - Or did he fool me??

Yes, it voids your warranty, unless it's a stock replacement filter. Please check with your dealer/service station.

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier...as Nitrous said, the K&N 5 inch Extreme makes a huge difference on track, where the engine is pushed as hard as possible. Airflow increases hugely.

I'm currently testing mileage on my car with a 5 inch (the same one). Need to get it cleaned and oiled, so that I get a more accurate picture. As of now, throttle response seems quicker, and take-offs from ultra-low rpms (sub 1000) are less jerky.

Not necessary that the Conical Filter will void the warranty, it all depends on which car and how well you know your dealer.

K&N Filter for Esteem MPFI and Honda City ZX VTEC

Hi guys,

Nice to see your valuable comments so far. Can some one help me with my issue ? I have 1 2003 Esteem (MPFI) and I want to fit K&N Filter to it. I am not in for any major modifications nor do I want to compromise on fuel efficiency. I would like to know which filter (Stock Replacement or Universal ) should I go in for, the basic difference bet the two and if anyone can give me the part number, nothing like it..I would also need the same info for the new ZX VTEC which I propose to buy soon. Thanks a zillion !!

if you are more into FE then better not to go in for conical ones, just go in for the stock replacement one, will cost you around 5000Rs, nowadayz methods does home delivery as well.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorb...tml#post332152

How much difference would there be between the RC 1060 and RC 1120 ??

And what is the difference between a Round Straight Universal Air Filter and Round Tapered Universal Air Filters.
