Hi Guys after a long time I am posting, let me begin

My friend (such a moron, including myself for my ignorance or whatever u want to call) had a 91' Maruti 1000, parked at his home for almost 8 months, and then with me (since he left for UK for his higher studies) for 6 months,

Then all of a sudden 1 month back he called and said that he got a better job & settling down there, and said to take the car for me itself (Gift)

Now don't ask why waiting for 1 month, after seeing the pics u will come to know, had to arrange for finance to repair the beauty.

And was searching for a apt mech for this project, then came Mr.Sathish of Top Gear in Saidapet who came for the rescue, whose garage is very close to my house.

Now he has taken the ownership of the car, now my only concern will of choosing the color, I had Ferrari Red in my Mind, and he suggested me to go for Jet Black.

And I request you all guys to gimme inputs & on color suggestions

Seeing this thread first time and I believe that this Esteem definitely belongs here, even though its a racecar- it is certainly the best looking Esteem I've come across except the stock-looking paintjob, but it definitely has the performance to match the go. Twin down draft Webers earlier and twin-throttle bodies now. Note the headlamps which have been converted to ram intakes lined with metal gauze and the neatly widened arches. Killer stuff.

Have more pics of it in action which I'll post later but can't post engine bay pics here since its a competitive field and Viji sir wouldn't appreciate it being on a public forum.

Specs, well- don't know too much in detail but its an all out naturally aspirated build with Indian block, head and gearbox casing. Twin-throttle bodies, custom intake and exhaust, RD Ecu, close ratio gearbox and a limited slip diff with custom suspension setup with camber adjustment. Can do 1:15s at the KMS and run 2:02s at the MMST at race pace.

Hey Guys my Type I esteem has the worst brakes.
Read on the other threads that it is possible to plonk in Type II brake system.
How far will it help and what modifications will be required, and appx cost involved. Planning to get this done next week once i am back in Mumbai.

great choice of workshop...My 1000 was done up by Satish as well and I was immensely pleased at the quality of work on the car's body & paint. He also happens to be the tuner of Ayub Khan's esteem (2007 Saloon champ) and is quite popular amongst the racing circles.

Just one suggestion, though I'm quite sure Satish would've told you the same...keep the performance mods to the minimum as theres very little that you could do to a 1000 to get it scorching roads, unless of course, you're looking at an engine swap.

Going by the condition of the car, I see it costing anywhere close to 25k for a body repair / cosmetic makeover.

and keep us updated on stage by stage progress of the car

How much will a Baleno Engine Cost along with the Gearbox, ECM and the complete wiring harness?
Is it a direct fit to the M1000 shape esteem engine mounts?
IF yes, What all mods will be required to make it happen?

IMHO Jet Black will look really cool on an Esteem ! Have seen a few 'done up' black coloured ones and they looked really neat !

After a long time (4 Months to be precise) i am back, the car has came back after a very very detailed tinkering & primer job, my car is now ready for painting.

Now i have passion red in my mind, but still i couldnt make my mind, as some of my friends say jet black or dark silver, dudes can anyone help me in choosing the color.
