Close 2 a Swift deal! Planning listed mods!! Advise please!

Hi everybody,

Motivated by the generous and enormous responses to my previous posts., am here again for your opinions on following add-on's to a brand new SILVER Swift ZXi.

(1) Music system - Preferably a 2 DIN system OR an in-dash MP3/CD Player!! Budget around 15-20K max including speakers!! (I don't want that "blasting" music!! Just decent music system!!) Cost??!!

(2) Wider tyres - Not a major upsizing!! But can I go for slightly more wider tyres on the same factory fitted Alloys?!! May be a set of 195/60/R14 or stuffs like that!!! Anybody tried this??! Pl comment reg overall effect on FE and Ride quality?!! Total Cost?!!

(3) Leather Seats - Preferably THE best quality ART LEATHER customised seat covers or branded ready 2 fit ones!! Bit apprehensive on pure leather ones!! Cost??!!

(4) External fittings - Window visors, Rear spoilers! Costs??!!

(5) K & N Filter - Which model to go for better results?!!

(5) LPG Kit - I know many will be angry with me for this!! But for me this is inevitable!! Sorry in advance guys...!!! Have a plan to go for it after 5-6k kms!! Anybody here with LPG kitted swift??!! Pl comment on FE, Service, Warranty, major disadvantages etc etc!! Which is the best Swift-compatible kit??!! Whether to go for Lamda unit RC endorsement is must!!

Awaiting your inputs!! Thankd in advance!!

Cheers!

do not get a k&n filter so soon,it will make your warranty void.

Get a budget of 20k for this. You can get a decent CD/Mp3 HU for 9k, Component speakers on the front for 6-7K (I'll suggest Hertz ESK165 or DSK165 They're just excellent) Some co-axial 6.5" speakers on the back for 2-3k (Get a matching Hertz). This much will be fine for the setup. Spend some money (1k-2k) for damping the doors and the setup will be vibration/noise free too.
If you want more bass, then go for ovals in the rear.
If you want some clean, lush sound from the speakers and you care of resolution in sound, then add a 4 channel amp and power the speakers from it. It'll cost 4-7k

I know of people riding on 205/50/R16 for their Swift. So, dont worry just go for 14" 195/60

You mean artificial leather?? Those are Rexin. Will cost 4-7k. Stanley leather seats may cost around 20k.

I dont like Window visors, so no idea. Spoilers can cost 1.5k-10k

If you're interested in keeping Fuel costs down, then go for stock replacement filter. If you want performance, go for Extreme.

Regarding the tyres you have use a size that will match the dia of the stock tyres. For eg if you are going for a VXi the stock size is 165/80-R14 for which the best match will be 195/70-R14. But for the ZXi the stock size is 185/70-R14 for which you will have to go for a 195/65-R14. But as far as I know the 65 profile tyre is not available at least in bangalore it isnt. So your next choice will be 195/70-R14. These will be slightly larger than your stock size but you should find goof FE & handling with these. Also as for the K&N is concernec is you are going in for a stock replacement filter then go for it. But if you plan to install a cold air intake system I suggest you wait till your warranty is over else it will be void the minute you install it.

Vikram

Use this site to calculate tyre size...

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

The maximum difference normally should be within +/- 2% of the original. i usually keep it to the plus side.

Hi,

I got K&N Extreme Filter fitted around 5k kms after my second service. The performance has really improved and wonderful drive on Highways. Also there is a considerable improvement in mileage too .

Do check out the site. there are some rather impressive MGP accssories for the Swift including motorised sun roofs and front and rear spoilers. The last time i added up the cost, it cam to about 40K odd, but that incldued front, rear & side skirts and spoilers.

Well if you go in for 195/60-R14 the speedo error will be about 4% which is too high. You could probably go in for 215/60-R14's where the speedo error will be only 0.2%. But I dont know if the 215 size will fit properly in the Swift. You will need to confirm this with your tyre dealer or with some body on this forum who had fitted 215 tyres.

regards
Vikram

Hi there

vikram_d, OH MY...!! I never thought of speedoerror when we go for upsizing!! Thanks for hinting this!! Any no-issue upsize available??!! 205 tyres itself makes problems to Swift!! So noway thinking bout 215!! Max I wish to go for is 195!! Am dropping the plan of upsizing!!! Instead I'll change the stock 14" alloys with a more stylish 14"ones!!
Thanks anyway buddy!!!
cheers:

Nice choice for audio in Cochin is Emperor. They're not best in attitude but definitely worth for the equipment and work quality.

Regarding the tyre upsize, dont worry much of the speedo error. It'll be not 100% perfect in any case. And dont go overboard with 205+ sizes or the fuel stop guy will soon become your friend.

I would seriously advise you not to do that. If you are willing to change wheels then I would advise you go for 15" with 195/60 R15 tyres. Had this done to a close friends Swift a while back and they are perfect with good ride comfort on our roads. THIS IS A NO ISSUE UPSIZE.

If you wanna stick to 14" then please don't waste money on changing Alloys, rather invest this money in getting better stuff. But if you are adamant you could try finding 195/65 R14 which is a no issue upsize but might be hard to find here.
