Re: S-Cross 1.6L: Custom Decat SS Downpipe by Blackworks

I missed updating something here. I was testing few maps from Rajiv few weeks back. We had also flashed the stock file for some time.

Observations : Stock map with Decat Downpipe

1. No loss of power in low end. It was in fact marginally better

2. Mid range : Car was revving freely

3. Top end : It was more punchy than stock 1.6 with cat

The Blackworks Downpipe has decent gains even on stock car.

Hi Dr,
Wonderful mod
If you dont mind, can you share the cost of the decat downpipe?
Is this downpipe custom fabricated for your Scross? Or do they have a standard bolt on?
I was looking for the same kind of mod on the civic, as the integrated headers cant be changed

The cost would depend on the car. I suggest you to contact them directly for pricing.

This is custom made decat downpipe by Blackworks. Remember it's bolt on fit and fully reversible. Stock exhaust system is not tampered

Re: S-Cross 1.6L: Custom Decat SS Downpipe by Blackworks

I have driven more than 12,000 KM with Blackworks Downpipe. I have done so many mods on different cars till date and this is the one which has impressed me a lot.

The car sounds the same as it was on Day 1 with Blackworks decat downpipe!!

Re: S-Cross 1.6L: Custom Decat SS Downpipe by Blackworks

Thanks to Dr. Naren, I bought the S-Cross 1.6, got the perfect map and now a decat downpipe.

Naren had the downpipe made at Blackworks. I was impressed with their workmanship and knew I had to get this done soon.

I'm based in Kochi and Blackworks in Bangalore. I spoke to Venkat and told him that I'd be driving to Bangalore just to get the downpipe. He said he wouldn't need the car to make the downpipe as he already has the measurements from Dr. Naren's car and it would only require a few hours for the final touches and installation, once the downpipe is made. I immediately placed an order and promised to be in Bangalore in a week.

Venkat kept me posted regarding the pipe and notified me once it was done. But, due to a family emergency I couldn't make the trip to Bangalore as promised and offered to make an e-payment for the downpipe. To my surprise, he said it was alright and asked me to pay once everything was done. I was taken back by his generosity.

Once I finished my work in Kochi, I fixed an appointment with Venkat on a Saturday and drove to Bangalore on the previous day of the appointment. I picked him up from his home, in the morning. Venkat, me and my cousin then drove to his workshop and he started with the work.

Venkat had re-routed the air intake on Doctor's car and I wanted the same thing done on mine. Both the work were done simultaneously and in a few hours, everything was ready and I was good to go.

Observations Post The De-cat And Intake Mod :

- Revvs better.

- Acceleration has improved by a good margin and feels more responsive.

- Turbo spool is louder.

- Better top end.

Thank you Venkat and Dr.
