Well, I am not Maruti technical head but the mechanic explained in depth the whole mod, while a 5s, a carb M-800 and a carb zen were being repaired alongside. From my car's engine bay specifications, I dont think any 5s were manufactured without vaccuum brake boosters. Still you are the owner you will know better. In any case the 5s can be fitted with booster, the carb M-800 after putting zen carb can have vaccuum assisstance. As far as I know, the new Maruti MPFI 800 doesnt come with booster, and the 5s unit can be attached to it.

You are confused. 5-speed or mpfi or a carb does not have any link in not able to fit a brake booster.

You can fit a brake booster to almost all the cars on earth from any era.

1) Fit the brake booster.
2) Fix a T joint to the intake manifold (provided with the KBX kit)
3) Connect the vacuum pipe to it.

The whole set-up should cost around 3K including all spares and the mechanic labour.

Thats it, the booster starts work instantly.

When the 5 Speed was launched in 2000, it did not come with brake boosters. OE Brake boosters on the M 800 were only available for the 2001(April) to 2003(march) manufactured 5 speeds.I know this beacuse I have 2000 model 5 speed and I took it straight from the showroom.

It is definitely possible to fit brake booster on to the 2000 model 5 speeds which came without brake boosters. This was confirmed to me by MASS and they quoted around 3k for the job at that time (around 2002-03).

Need advise for installing AC in 2001 5Speed M800.

Hello Friends,

I've a M800 2001 5 Speed EX Non AC model with 26000 kms on odo. I am the first owner and I've not driven car much and the engine is as good as new. Without any problems except some untracable screeching noise which comes occasionally when we press accelerator.

I am planning to install AC in this car and I've been quoted 25000k by maruti service stations and 15k from local guys for original sanden AC. I've query relating to that:

1) Why is there 10k price difference among local and Maruti service station.

2) Would my car require some ECU remapping after installing the AC as mine is non AC model and and I dont know if I would get same performance as like with AC models. What could be side effect is no ECU remapping is done.

3) Please suggest me some good place in NCR Delhi are where I could get the best service for money I pay. I don't want to give my car in wrong hands and later repent as AC for 25k is almost 40% cost of this car at current prices.

Experts please shower your opinions for AC install in my car.

most mod shops here in delhi sell venteed disks for around the same price...and the freight on these disks will add upto a lot.

cant say if the ones locally available are brembo but they should be of comparable quality.

though the need for vented brakes is minimal. its useful in racing mostly where brakes are applied very often at maximum braking force. In an 800 it will be useful only if you are slowing down from 100+ kmph with maximum braking to a halt. its the amount of braking and the TIME for which the brakes are applied that leads to extreme heating which results in brake fade. However! 99.9% people do not posses the skill to stop the car from that speed with maximum breaking without panicking. almost all the times people endup locking whees in such a scenario making the advantage of vented brakes useless.

so i would say vented breaks are useful only if your car has abs , or if you have a really fast car, cuz 800 isnt fast enough. most bigger cars have these brakes stock. And they are really usefull there , either with abs or when driving at high speed where even mild breaking will heat up the disks to extreme temperatures

"Green" Frameless Wiper Blades

Hi,
Today I went to check my audio(FM was faulty) at that time the accessory shopkeeper was fitting a Frameless Wiper Balde which was very similar to BSOCH Aerotwins.
I inquired and knew that it was a Chines Product named Green.
The performance was decent on the Swift he fitted.
The price for 17 inchers for my M800 was Rs.400 a pair.
I went for it to give a try as mine were due for change
Has anybody else tried these wiper blades?

Regards,
Suresh

As Obama says, YES WE CAN!
Kalyani brakes had a kit, but the OEM kit and spares fits just fine in my 1995 M800.

Can we put disc brakes on the rear wheels of Maruti 800 5s? Also the 5s bears a distributor type magnetic ignitiom, can we upgrade to electroic distributorless ignition system which the new k series alto engine is going to come with? At present the timing is controlled by the distributer, can we put a camshaft position sensor and upgrade to edis? The idling nvh and AC jerk can disappear by edis. Mallory and MSD have readymade kits, we need a highly progressive installer to install.

Hello all on a wet wet sunday evening. I saw a 2006 Maruti 800 getting worked upon with Indica silencer, I saw it weld into the brackets at Borivali at a welder's place. The welder removed the entire tailpipe, cut open the muffler and welded a steel pipe in the place of the original muffler, he again cut the end part of the maruti tailpipe by about 2.5 feet and welded the Indica muffler, only the tip protuding a little out of the rear bumper. He did change the rubber mountings and the brackets too. Total cost Rs 1300 including labour. It is a small tinwork garage near Gurudwara, Dahisar E.

The beat was very different and deep though not load, it seemed very similar to the Xeta exhaust sound. I have clicked photos of the same, will upload them soon.

I wanted to ask a few questions here, but if someone starts a word before.
