If the pin-type lock looks better, why do they have the U-Type. Is it much stronger than the pin-type?

Want to put a gear lock on my car (Getz Prime),
1. any suggestions on good brands to use
2. Also, will such drilling void my Hyundai warranty?
3. My Getz comes with an in-built steering lock, is this good enough. Or will an external steering lock help further?

carthik, as gbpscars said the locks differ from vehicle to vehicle and the position of the gears that gets engaged. Auto-Cop is a good brand for gear-lock.

Drilling won't void your warranty as the dealers themselves install these locks on demand. Once you have a gear-lock in place, then you won't need an external steering lock.

Deepak,
i too called up some of the aftermarket known fitters in Bangalore like Soundfactor, PitStop, Sprocket, Car Shringar and they don't have it!!!. I think you need to fit it from JC Road shops only.

I am a little surprised that you havent come across a gear lock before , but never the less here are the picks of the U shape gear locks (NOT pin type)

this is how it is installed in a zen or indica

This is how it is installed in a palio/M800:

PS: Both the picks picked up from the net

Another thing I have noticed is that while the U type gear lock can only be engaged in the reverse gear but the PIN type works in all the gears. I ahve the U type in my Scorpio while the PIN type in my Indigo Marina.

Last week I got it installed in my 800, for 1300Rs, Autocop. U type

Minda was of 1200 Rs.
Xenos was of 1300 Rs

5 yrs back I got it installed in my Indica for 1900Rs, again Autocop, U type.

2750 is a highway robbery.
