@ Mclaren - how much does forged compos cost?
Depends on the availability and country from which you are importing. I would say anywhere close to 1L+ for forged conrods, pistons, crank. Then as you go up on the boost you will have to run a stand alone. Upgrade fuel pump, injectors amongst other stuff.

Since a Optra 1.8L will come a little cheaper and seeing that it has really good interiors and handles well it will be worth the money.

Ishaan, it will be reliable provided you do your homework and go to the right people and buy the right stuff. And learn how to maintain a turbo car. Not by starting the car and wheelspinning in 1st gear with 4 chicks in the car, come back switch off the car and then get into a coffee shop. Without letting the engine or the turbo get to optimum temperatures. Yes, I have seen many do that. No wonder their TCed cars didn't last. And they blame their tuner.

Dont worry there is always a turbo timer for that

To run 14psi boost you need to spend around 3 lacs??

RDKathik builds standalones, doesnot he?

Mcl - Where did you get your forged parts from, which country did you import and how much did they cost?

A 270bhp Optra runs in the WTCC, so the above wont be a problem IMHO.

Yes, there is always a turbo timer for that . But I haven't seen many run it except for farhan and keshav.

About 3L I guess. 14PSI sounds good.

Yes, he does. Infact I am picking one up for my car soon. Just awaiting for finances to fall into place.

Well my parts came from Australia. Picked up forged crank and conrods for about 65k. High Comp Pistons cost me another 23k. NOS kit came from dubai for about 45k.

Why should 230 bhp be a surprise when GM were using the Optra for their European Touring Car Championships?

Good to see you are up to date with prices for Optra parts.

Actually, Chevy/American aftermarket parts are supposed to be cheaper than Japanese imports...

There's nothing American about the Optra. It's sold as a Suzuki in the States.
