Cleaning a K&N conical filter

I popped up the hood of my ride after a month or so and couldnt help notice how dirty my K&N filter is now. I wanted to know how should I go about cleaning it. I have heard there is an oil for it which should be applied after cleaning but dont know anything about it. It would be great help is some one can give me pointers ..

@rishi: the filters usually don't need to be cleaned within a month of fitting. i've used mine for around 7 months, and will be cleaning it now.

Which reminds me, does anyone know how much these cleaning kits cost, and where can one source them from?
Also, I am assuming a K&N cleaning kit can clean a Ractive filter as well (which is also a cotton fiber mesh filter).

The cleaning kit should cost around 1000 bucks. I think the ractive doesn't use oil. Can't confirm though.

Thats quite expensive. Normal rate is around 150-200 depending on how well you know the stores guy. Else, pay 950 bucks and a brand new KN Filter recharge kit thats good for 5-6 recharges is yours.

Mahesh I had checked with the other places also and it was the same. So best bet for me was to go back to the place where I got it installed from.

K&N Air Filter Cleaning Instructions
Any links for cleaning an conical air filter? One couldn't possibly follow the same instructions. The above page does provide a link where I can find the cleaning instructions, if I know the part number (which I don't remember).

Regards,

Infractions: 0/1 (10)

the k&n filter is first sprayed with a cleaning oil and then washed with water.then it is allowed to dry.do not use compressed air to dry the filter.after it has dried it is reoiled with the k&n oil.you will need to buy the cleaning oil as well as the reoiling kit each costing 1100bucks.
if you visit noida you can get it cleaned at performance auto, noida.they charge 200bucks for cleaning the filter.
yes,you can get it cleaned at autopsyche as well.
