Help me turn my zen into a Lil' monster

Hey Guys I finally got a second hand Zen.
It's a 1999 model in The Classic avatar.

Will post pics asap.
It still needs a lot of work. Will Overhaul the engine tomorrow.

Now I need help sourcing an esteem or baleno engine if possible an mpfi one. I'm going in for Mpfi because Carbs eat up lots of Gas and I won't be participating in any Drag races.

The Swift Gti engine sounds very tempting but I'm worried about getting spare parts as I live all the way in Mizoram.

The engine has done around 95000 kms, but I'm not worried about that as I plan to get an esteem engine mounted.
I was planning to get a Swift Gti engine but dumped the thought because I don't want the car to break down and then find that the parts I need for replacement can only be bought in Mumbai or Bangalore.

I'm planning to do a complete overhaul, Suspension, Brakes etc..
So Guys can you all please help me out in turning my Zen into a Little monster.
I'm planning to sell off the existing engine as soon as I find another engine to replace it.

Gratefully,
Puia.

Congrats!! Are you going to drop the "classic" look?Search there's lots of discussions on the subject.

Carb to Carb is easier and cheaper. Carb to MPFI is going to require a very reliable tuner and will work out expensive too.

Hi Puia,

How much did you pay for this Car?

From what I have most of the people suggest getting a carb esteem engine as it comes cheaper.
Anyways more experienced people will advice you better, all the best dude

stick to the esteem engine if you are looking for a fun to drive car for cheap its the esteem.

if you go baleno you need to get new engine mounts done.

the esteem bolts on direct to the zen mounts.

stick to carb since in case of any problems is easier to rectify than a fi.

the gt shares most of its bottom half and gearbox parts with the esteem engine.

also suspension and brake upgrades is a must since and suspension and brakes are ****.

you could go type 1 brakes with brake booster.the brake setup is pretty costly and is a must.

suspension could be stiffened.

No I don't think I'll drop the classic look. I kind of like the classic look even though it may not help the aerodynamics.

I got it for 1lakh.
I don't mind using Carb for a while but I would like to got Mpfi somewhere down the line.
But first I need to get the Brakes and suspension right.

Will the Zen diesel brakes fit? I heard they are bigger and I've seen that the brake discs are vented.
Why not go for the Zen diesel brakes instead of the Esteem type 2 brakes?
Is it because of the non availability of parts?

(Will post pictures tomorrow evening)

Carb to carb change is advised as its cheaper, easier and no hassle replacement.

Your esteem engine is a direct bolt on to a zen.

If at all you go in for an MPFI, you have to change your wiring(FRONT)
and buy lot of expensive stuff like the ecm.

If in bargain for a second hand engine of mpfi, what if your ecm konks.

Thats a costly replacement dude.

Moreover Carb is much more fun.

If your going for a Esteem engine then why are you spending money on overhauling your current engine?

dont waste money to repair ur existing engine if u wanna go for upgrade.
mainly if u r planning for mpfi engine..it will cost u a toll..the ecu is also costly.
earlier i had seen those isuzu engines going into the amby and 118ne . also nissan engines will do. but if u get the esteem carb engine..it will be gud for u

1. Dont sell your zen engine..you will need it when you plan to sell the car.
2. Carb to carb converion is straight forward..MPFi sucks a lot of money too..
3. Get your engine swap first before you decide on the suspension / brakes etc.

BTW.. who is doing the mods for you.??

Sorry about the misunderstanding. What I meant was that the engine will be taken out tomorrow (which is now today).
I forgot to take my camera with me but clicked a few with my cell phone.

I needed to make few repairs on the body so I had the engine removed. I did not overhaul the engine completely, just made a few repairs like changing the oil seals on the drive shaft and had the crankshaft pulley repaired as it broke the other day.

Does anybody know where I can get an Esteem engine as I haven't found one yet. It is kind of hard to get a second hand engine where I live.

I found a second hand 1.1ltr Alto engine without the ecu, wiring etc... but I doubt that it is a direct fit in the Zen engine bay.

SO experts please help me find a good second hand esteem engine.
Please PM me if anyone wants to sell an esteem engine or knows anyone who wants to sell an esteem engine.

BTW. The Mods will be done at my friends Garage with the help of all you guys at Team-bhp.

Hmm A 1.1 engine should also be good but am not sure whether it is direct fit or not.

Btw any one has idea about the price of an MPFi esteem engine for swapping? Also what are the legalities involved in a swap ?
