Turbo charging a Ford ikon 1.6

hello guys,

I am thinking of turbo charging my 4 year old ford ikon 1.6. Any suggestions weather it is worth going for TCing IKON. I have a few questions:
1. How good or bad would these modifications bode with this car?
2. What turbos are available in India/Blore? what is preferred for this car? Are there any Turbo kits available for this car including intercoolers, BOV and wasteges ??
3. Do i have to change ECU if i need to go for TCing? or would the computer calculates the change in airflow and provides a better fuel mixture?
4. Has any one in the forum already tried TCing an IKON, if so what has been the performance and how much BHP can i get?
5. any suggestions of some good experienced tuner in Bangalore where i can get this proj done?
6. what would be the cost of the entire proj including Turbo, intercooler,BOV, header modification etc?? anything else?
thanks,
-shaz

Have to lower the car for better handling and need to upgrade the brakes.

Ready kit are unheard of but however you can source Garetts and IHI turbo's as per you needs the costs for the turbo's would be anywhere from 1,500 to 10 k. You could do with a Isuzu G1 IHI turbo with wastegate which produces about 10 PSI. Intercoolers can also be easily sourced or made am not too sure of the BOV's though.

You cannot do it with your stock electronics as you would require a 2 - 3 bar sensor to replace the MAP sensor and the same will have to be mapped to your ECU as the signal range might vary.

Well you seem to have covered all the points excepting the oil supply. The total cost at a bare minimum can vary from 20 - 40 k.

Hope that helps you.

Thats it. I have been quoted in Mumbai by KS motor sports around 1.5 Lacs minimum. Where can you get a TC for around 10K like a Garret. I was told Rs. 57500 for a T-25 Garret

you cant a new turbo for that cheap.. offcourse if u try chor bazar... u can get old used turbo for around 10 to 15k..
and to turbo your car.. there is a lot of work involved ....

what ks is selling is bolt on kits.. all brand new.. which sounds resonable....

for a good turbo setup u need proper plumbing turbo manifold...

good fuel.. good fuel flow on high rpm when the boost rises...
fuel pressure regulator.
a/f ratio meter..
boost gauge..
bov
intercooler
need a map sensor depending on the kinda boost..
or a piggy back etc etc.....

hey agree with zengt totally..turbo kits for 10k,20k and 40k ridiculuous unless you want a DIY and experiment on your car using second hand unreliable stuff and leaving it in the garage for trial and testing for any period from 30 days to a lifetime!!
if you want to do a turbo install in your car and want to use a branded kit whis has all the parts/gauges the basic list is:
1. turbo
2. intercooler
3. plumbing
4. sensors
5. blow off valve
6. external waste gate
7. plumbing
8. gauges
9. piggy back ecm/ stand alone ecm
10. as well as fuel regulators adn pumps
now all this if you want buy a top of the line performance company it will cost you anywhere from 3000 to 8000 us$...shocking right!!!
well that is what you get but if you want a good turbo kit where in the turbo is branded and the other parts are equivalent you should get the whole package for under 3000us$
so karan shah's prices are ok but his work.........never seen or experienced it.
in bangalore there are a few people who can do this install for you.
