If you are looking for a swap OHC with a B16 would be a good choice.
Why not a lancer with a mivec ?

Yes B16 would be a nice choice, wonder if any swaps are available for the Baleno.
Lancer... No thanks. Had it before and don't want another one, mivec or not.

Can someone comment on the cost of doing a B16 swap and the issues with it...

There is a suzuki 1.8l for the baleno AFAIK. not sure if they enlarge the 1.6 to 1.8 or it is a completly different engine altogether.

Do give a second thought about the lancer, i am sure every one agrees it handles better than the OHC or baleno.

Yeah there is a J18 baleno, but as far as I know no one has done the swap in India. You can do a big bore baleno like Iceman did which give you around 1750cc.

I believe there are a couple of Mivecs up for sale in bangy.

What kind of performance increase can we expect with the Suzuki swap or bore compared to Mivec or B16.

Yes Mives are available, one is on the forum itself.

Mohit, I would seriously not suggest going the big bore route for a daily drive be it any car. If something goes wrong you wont even have a stock engine to run on. If it doesn't work, you then either have to buy a new block or take the headaches of re-sleeving it back to 75mm. So all the money you put into it is waste. I would always says stick to stock setup, same dia pistons. If you blow it you dont have to wait for ages to get spares.

For eg, I blew the rings on my 76mm Honda pistons and it almost took me 1 month to get them down. Tired I went back to 75mm overnight.

Ram ji, that is a nice one. Is the '99 Baleno gone?
One doubt. Would it be possible to retro fit Climate Control present in VXi into an LXi. If so, what would be the damage to the pocket?

Amit, how many of them have had a reliable overbored baleno in India? From the lessons I have learnt, if you are trying something for street use, try something that has worked for others or something that others have already tried. Dont be the test mule, not unless you are preparing a competition car.

srijit, retrofitting the climate control is possible but its better sell off the LXi and buy a VXi,lolz. You have to change the wiring harness, centre console etc and it wont be easy on pockets too.
Kartik told the 99 is gone,2004 would be a good option,

Finally decided, its gonna be a Suzuki Baleno!!!
Hope its the right decision. No more second thoughts, will pick one up in another week.

Found two more Balenos...
Both 2000 model, one is 60k kms one is 80k kms.. Both are quoting around 1.6L. Guess either of these is best..

So car should be bought this week if all goes well, now will have to get the parts.

So if the car is 1.5L, will spend around 50k on it to make it look good. So for the rest of the 3L , do list out the mods guys

Porting Polishing 12-15k
Performance Cam - 30-35k
ECU - 30-35k
Headers and FFE- 12 -15k
CAI -5 - 8k
Koni Suspension - 32k
Brake pads - 5k
Clutch -12-15k

Besides this, what else...

I have had a big bore engine. Ran for 4 years! Other than that I know 8 other guys running it even today. That says it all...
You had bad luck and your tuner messed up...
