Kindly await the travelogue thread . His car has been just driven through 8 states, plenty of truck traffic and lots and lots of scenic locations.

So buying an out of state car and transporting it, then paying road tax and all other formalities. How much did you save? was it worth it?
What was the savings ?

Buy a stock car out of town -- say 1.5 lakhs. Registration charges in BLR -- around 30k. Then transport cost -- ~20k. Already 2 lakhs for a car that you've never seen before. Might as well have picked up something locally for 2.25 or so that would have come with tints, wheels etc anyway.

Just my 96 paisa, please don't flame or take offence.

After almost finalizing on a couple of OHC's and the deal not coming through at the last minute Karthik calls and decides to go ahead and pick up the Baleno from Delhi. So we flew down, checked the car out, picked it up, headed to JB and Gunbir's place for a head unit install and started the drive back to Bangalore the same night. The drive was amazing, more on that in the travelogue thread. The car had some small issues like AC not working at its best, needed a good service and thats about it. Everything else in pretty good shape given that its a 9 yr old car. Picked it up for 1.5L, car has run around 63k kms. Car returned a range of around ~700 kmpl (give or take) on a tank full with AC on all the time.

Here is a pic of the car we managed to take at my farm in Hubli.
5L budget - Baleno put through some serious mods-img_5050edit.jpg

Right now the car is running a decent ICE setup and a muffler. I think Karthik is going to have to wait a while before the engine mods begin. First attempt is to sort out all the niggles with the stock car and check carefully for minor wear and tear parts and stuff.

The car looks nice.

OT: Is that the old grill? Is that still available in the market? If so, what price range?

Also, has anyone fitted a gear lock on their Baleno? Details, please.

The car looks neat. Congrats on the purchase.

Looking forward to see all the engine mods on this car, whenever it happens.
