However point I was trying to make was that it is futile to compare the readings of stock cars with that claimed by manufacturers, they will never match!
but atleast they could be withen the 12% transmission loss?

Lets take an example.

Honda City Vtec BHP = 100
With 12% Trasmission Loss WHP = 88bhp
KnN with CAI, Headwork, Wild Porting and Polishing, FFE, Valve Angle Job - Approx - 18bhp
But on dyno its going to show WHP = 88 + 18 = 106bhp.
So wont people say the power jumped by just 6 bhp as no one would waste a run on the dyno to see the stock bhp the car belts out after the loss in power.

Is the above right or am i missing something, correct me if i am wrong.

If I remember correctly, BHP means all the losses of power in transmission are already calculated. and thats the real output.

HP is at the crank.

I have written BHP not WHP, and thats a approximation.

But you've added them on as whp in the final 88 + 18 xhp.

Oops My bad, well it was all aproximations just to get the point across. For ease of calculation took the NHC Vtec

I see the point Busa's making. Nobody's gonna waste a run for finding out what the stock car puts out unless KS offers to do a before-and-after comparison for one of his own installs.

Dynamometer testing as of now is very costly but within few months it will come down as a result of competition.

@busa but obviously one should take in consideration the transmission loss . a person spending 3k should know at least that much and i am sure karan can explain simple stuff like this to people who arnt well informed

Well i just wanted to say, when a person buys a car with x bhp and mods it thinking he is going to get 10 more bhp and on the dyno he will get less since the stock power will have a bit of trasmission loss due to which how can we come to a conclusion about few mods working or not unless we test the car before being modded and after.

Do you guys think it makes economic sense for KS to post numbers of stock cars on a public forum? I dont think it does.
