White light is pretty useless in fog and rains. Doesn't matter whether it is LED, Xenon, Projector or anything else. If the problem is fog more than rain, I would suggest going in for a projector fog lamp which has both white and yellow beams. Nothing beats yellow lights for foggy conditions. This is the best alternative assuming that you want to retain the stock look of the vehicle. Another alternative is to fit separate yellow fog lamps, but I would prefer the former. I'm not sure if the same is available in your place, but knowing the contacts that you have, I believe you should be able to source it from Delhi.

I have a multibeam setup on my Grand Vitara as follows:-
1. HB3 halogen reflector high beam - 60W*2. I guess 2700-3000K colour
2. H7 HID projector low beam 4300K - 35W*2
3. H11 Fogs with led bulb in reflector - 4300K - 20W*2
4. Pair of LED cubes on bumper - adjusted to illuminate from 35 to 50feet in front of the car. With Amber cover. 20W*2 I guess 2700K colour.

In 2018 I spent a couple of days in Amboli during the monsoon peak. We stayed in a resort that was accessed through a narrow road passing through the dense forests. And needless to say there was very very dense fog and rain all the time.
I found that all the lights were pretty much useless in the fog. So I used to drive very very slowly. And was quite liberal with the horn.
Of all the various beams i found that the Halogen High Beam was the most effective in piercing the fog. But at no time was visibility more that 10-15 feet.

Your best bet would be to get a pair of Reflector type Halogen Spot lamps - 55W or 90W bulb. Add a yellow cover if at all you need to.
Mount them in the top of the bumper and adjust them to throw at a distance of 50-80 feet. And cover them with black rexine for normal days.

Exactly the observation I had while driving my friend's Ertiga briefly, which had stock halogen headlamps and projector HID fogs. Only his halogen headlamp provided some relief, the high tech projector fogs had surrendered.

I've ordered an assortment of fogs, and some 6-7 types of bulbs. Let's see which one works. Will keep you all posted. Thanks a lot for all these valuable insight.

Hella has a 90MM fog lamp that can be flush fitted if your factory fog lamp is of that size. It takes 55W halogen bulb which is more than enough for a fog lamp.

The listing in amazon says suitable for Maruti vehicles.

Team, the headlight on my 2016 Aprilia SR150 is now atrocious.
What would be the best upgrade possible for a budget of max. Rs.5000?
I don't want white light, but want a good spread and illumination. Also should be good in rains.

I have been struggling a lot with adjusting light angle of my Vento headlight. It is the double barrel version having separate H7 bulbs for low and high beam. Right now on the LHS headlight, low beam is pointing up and high beam is pointing down. I have double checked bulb orientation and screw tightness. I have also tried adjusting using the inbuilt adjustment screws. Still no go. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I had inverted the bulb. I have fixed it and prepared a tutorial of what I have learned, in case other DIYers are interested. Please read precautions in user manual first, and proceed at your own risk.

I have ordered an Osram HID kit for my Tigor's projectors. Can fellow BHPians in Noida please suggest a place to get them installed?

If anyone has used the LED HL from Osram, can someone help me answer the below questions:

I got the HIDs fitted on my Tigor's projectors, but the beam does not look proper to me? Am I right?

It is the usual story with most of the 'upgrades' of this sort, hardly anyone would admit it once the money is spent :)

Can you give more details on the type of bulbs and the projectors? If you are using the stock projectors, then the cutoff pattern thats seen is wierd. The left side bulb seems fine to me but not the right side. It is flipped to the right. What you could simply try is to rotate the right side bulb and check if this sorts the problem. But I would have expected this issue in bulbs which came with a cutoff plate and in your case I believe its a plain bulb and the cutoff is made by the projector. Hence its a little confusing to me. Usually the cutoff would look like \__ \__ but in your case its like \_ _/ due to which I believe its an issue with the right side bulb installation. Do you have a picture of the same pattern with the halogen bulb?

They are stock projectors and the bulbs I have used are Osram Eco HIDs.

I will try rotating the bulb.

I didn't click a picture when the stock halogens were installed, but the cutoff was correct then, like \__ \__.

1) 25W LED will have a higher lumen output compared with a 55W halogen [Something like 2500 vs 1000 lumens]. However your reflector headlight is designed for halogens, the light output with a halogen bulb will be where you need it while output from most after market LEDs will scatter.

2) In my Ameo, there is sufficient space inside the housings to hold the driver unit. A zip tie can used to prevent rattles

3) There is no wire cutting or splicing involved, and LEDs consume less power than factory halogens. It will not void warranty.


I am using Morimoto LEDs in my Ameo, these use high end osram chips are at 5500K. The Osrams in your link are 6000K, I have the H8 version installed in my fogs, these are noticeably cooler than the Moromotos
