Shubz, same age, same dilemma, man. I have been riding an AVL machismo for ten years and also have a Thunderbird, but I will not touch another Enfield, so I totally support your decision of ruling out the RE. Out of all RE bikes, only the Thunderbird is reliable (any guy renting out bullets for tours will secretly tell you "sir, if you want trouble-free performance, take only the Thunderbird"). But although I currently am riding one, I personally hate its looks, ape-hanging handlebars, and pansy-sounding exhaust. Also, need something faster. At 100 kmph, the Thunderbird is a pain to ride.

Will keep watching this thread. Am really keen on the KTM, following Ebonho's thread very keenly, but am holding on. Let me know what you finally decide to buy. Am afraid of making a sudden, impulsive decision and then watching all the good bikes being launched. Like someone mentioned, there's a KTM 350 coming, a VTR 250 coming, and some other 600s. Wait another year, maybe?

Congrats on your purchase of Duke. Biking has got no age restrictions. Two memebers of my riding group, both in their early 60's rode all the way from Gurgaon to chennai in less than a week. Its your mental makeup, physical fitness and passion for riding. Hope you make the best out of your duke. Cheers.

Bumping this old thread.

Went to Hyosung motorcycles showroom on Ulsoor, the liked the bikes that were displayed in the showroom. The 650cc one comes to about 5.9L OTR.

What are others views on this bike? and one thing that shocked me was he was asking for Rs.500/- as deposit for letting me test drive it, saying it will be adjusted in the bill once i book.

I asked, What if i do not book?

Seems surprising, gave him some high level gyan, told him even when i bought my Civic (15L car) i was not charged for a TD. So he better let his senior folks know that this is stupidity.

Is this normal?

This is utter non sense , do they want to do business or not ?. Even I was asked to 500 Rs ,I just walked out of the showroom. They are losing customers even before test rides .

mayank, you should look at Ninja 650 R ,much more better built , good service backup and price . Don't know when why-sung will wind up

Wow! Hats off to you sir. All this is just encouraging me to get higher in the cc. Waiting for the Triumphs to make their entry. None too keen to go for the KTM 390 though.

Almost tried hands at some imports but withdrew because of the suspect paper work. Don't want to land up with something illegal just to satisfy the urge (@ 40)

That's not a bike , its a truck ,earth ship , motorhome . Varaman you make a lot of us feel like very old and lazy and amateurs .

Shubz, Black12RR ~ you guys are too nice! Honestly, I feel as fit as a 35 year-old; bicycle 16 kms every morning. Heck, motorbiking is God's gift to men... we are the chosen few

You should look at buying the Ducati Multistrada advertised for sale on Team BHP Classifieds... lovely bike... pity I am not three inches taller ...

Came across this post and wondering based on some of the comments is it wrong to look beyond the Bullet or the other big boys? I was thinking of something in the 200-250cc range? Considering my rides are easy, intra city and a few weekend leisure rides, will it be an overkill or will it be too less?

Clement, you need to be clearer than what you mention. Looking beyond the Bullet or other big boys is too generic to suggest anything.

Please come across with your biking experience and what type of bike you prefer. If more details are provided, you will benefit from better/clearer suggestions from our side.

I have not ridden a bike in over 15 years since I had a slipped disc and my doc warned me off bikes. Now I am tempted to get a bike simply for the joy of riding that I have been pushing aside with various reasons including the back issues. Will test ride the bikes that I am considering and update the post. For now the budget is Max 2.5 lakhs so the options are within that.
