Re: The "I Booked my Bike / Scooter" Thread

Booked my first EV!

Make : Hero
Model : Vida V1
Variant : Pro
Booking Date : 26th June 2024
Color : Matt Red
Expected Delivery Date : 5th July 2024
OTR : ~1.2 lacs (Booked online on Flipkart with a staggering 46K discount)
Dealer & City : Bimal Vida, Bangalore North
Freebies : Helmet and Portable Charger is included in the OTR
Others : Will opt for 2Yr Extended Warranty on Battery for ~4.5K
Accessories Planned: Side Step, Mirror Mobile Mount, Foot Mat and Screen Guard

Why Vida?
Needed a scooter to run local errands, didn't like any ICE scooter in the current market. I was drooling over the upcoming XOOM 160 Maxi-Scooter but it's launch date is unknown and the price might be well above 1.5L which will be a overkill for my requirements. Watched numerous reviews to evaluate the most popular EVs in the market and found the VIDA to be the most VFM variant only because of the discounted pricing, don't care about resale and minor issues/misses that comes along with the Vida since my usage will be mostly irregular or for short distances only.

Re: The "I Booked my Bike / Scooter" Thread

After much consideration and reading and viewing reviews of bikes, I've gone ahead and booked the Royal Enfield Meteor 350.

Make : Royal Enfield

Model : Meteor 350

Variant : Supernova

Colour : Red

Booking Date : 17 November 2024

Expected Delivery Date : 27 November 2024

OTR Price : Rs 3,09,645

Dealer : Electronic City Motors

Accessories : Blue Bike Cover, Black Sumpguard, Silver Deluxe Footpegs (rider and pillion), Silver Airfly Evo engine guard, Brown touring seats for rider and passenger, Personalized badge

Extras : Extended warranty + Roadside assistance BS6 for 4th and 5th year (Rs. 5899/-)

The bike is on its way to the dealer according to the Royal Enfield app. However, the dealer called me and asked me to make the full payment before even the PDI. Is this normal? I told them I will make the payment only after PDI and they said the bike will then be delayed by a week if that's the case. Sounds fishy to me. Why would it be delayed if the bike is already here and if there are no further issues? Anyone else faced this strange request?

Re: The "I Booked my Bike / Scooter" Thread

Well, here I am again with another post but this time regarding a purchase from heart which won over my mind.

Make : Triumph
Model : Scrambler
Variant : 400X
Color : Red
Booking Date : 12th December 2024
Expected Delivery Date : 27th December 2024
OTR : ~3.4 lacs (with Acko Insurance)
Dealer & City : Triumph Yelahanka (Popular Motors), Bengaluru
Freebies : Year-end accessories offer worth INR 12.5K - Details (Triumph Scrambler 400X gets free accessories worth Rs 12,500)
Others : Opted for Acko and saved few thousands compared to dealer insurance
Accessories Planned : OEM - Mudguard Extensions. Aftermarket - Screen Protector, Bobo Phone Holder, Fork Slider, Crash Guard Slider, Front and Rear Shock Covers, Front and Rear Brake Reservoir Covers, Side Stand Extender, Gear Shifter Cover
Protective Gears: RE Gloves, LS2 Stream II Helmet. Already have Jacket (might not fit now ), Pants and Shoes.

Why 400X?
Had fell in love with this bike from the launch time and had even pre-booked it during the launch but had to cancel it after a year since I didn't feel the need and was busy with other things in life. My first bike was the Mojo which was sold after 5yrs of usage and I was bike-less for about 4 years and the itch to get a new bike was growing stronger day by day. Although I do not really need a bike right now since I do not commute daily and don't have any touring plans too, just the usual city runs to meet family/friends or play badminton or explore food joints. All these requirements could be fulfilled by my Hero Vida V1 Pro (Hero Vida V1 e-scooter launched at Rs 1.45 lakh) as well but the biker in me wanted more.

Looking at the ever increasing bike prices, I was not really sure if I wanted to invest 3L+ for a bike which I would sparingly use. And even if I did consider getting a bike, the Scrambler 400X was already set in my mind even without a TD or detailed look, I had of-course seen hours of review/ride videos on YT which already convinced me that the Scrambler is the bike I would get next.

Then I came across the December/Year-end offer from Triumph on the Scrambler which made me think hard. If I wait till next year, what am I gaining? Nothing really, I might still get the 400X a year later but my age and riding itch isn't going to comeback for the time lost. So I said heck, YOLO and went straight to the Yelahanka Triumph showroom (dealership experience will be shared once I get the bike) and paid for the bike by burning all of my recent savings

Booking the Honda X-ADV 750 2025!! My Experience!!

Booking The Honda X-ADV 750 2025!!!

The Honda X-ADV 750, a “mutant”, is what I would call it.
The bike was manufactured over three series, 2017-2018, 2018-2020, and 2021-Present. The machine was proposed as a crossover model, like a maxi scooter but with a motorcycle's chassis.
Due to its long travel suspension, the motorcycle/scooter was also suitable for light off-road use.
Visually, the bike was characterized by features such as a dual headlight system, a windscreen, a one-piece dual seat with pillion grab rails, a two-into-one exhaust system with an up-swept muffler mounted on the right-hand side, and wire-spoke wheels.
The machine was built around a steel diamond frame that housed the suspension system comprised of a 41 mm telescopic fork mounted on the front end and a Pro-Link swingarm coupled to an adjustable shock absorber on the rear.
Its wire-spoke wheels were fitted with a 320 mm wave disc with a dual-piston calliper on the front and a 240 mm wave disc clamped to a single-piston calliper on the rear.
In the performance department, the 2017 Honda X-ADV packed a 745cc four-stroke liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine that delivered an output power of 54 hp at 6,250 rpm and 68 Nm (50 lb-ft) torque at 4,750 rpm.

We like breaking moulds. Which is exactly what our X-ADV does. Part adventure motorcycle, part scooter with the best attributes of both, it is the premium urban explorer. And now even more desirable. There’s still a powerful engine to play with but the SUV styling is sharper – and part constructed from sustainable Durabio™ – while new dual LED headlights feature DRL indicators. The screen adjusts easily one handed, the seat’s more comfortable and we’ve updated the DCT for smooth low speed response. And added cruise control for longer journeys. City block? Highway? Off-road trail? The X-ADV does it all. Any day, and every day you like.

Leading the way, a sharp new front fairing exudes premium SUV style while twin LED projector headlights throw broad beams ahead. The indicators are now incorporated into the Daytime Running Lights (DRL), producing a clean and highly visible look, significantly improving visibility and safety for pedestrians and other road users. But with X-ADV function is as important as form; scooter practicalities like storage under the seat (with bright internal light and convenient internal compartment divider), easy-access glovebox up front, step floor and screen which is adjustable in 5-levels, making life on the move a day-to-day pleasure.
You expect best in class performance. You’ve got it: 43kW peak power with a heavyweight 69Nm torque at just 4,750rpm. Throttle by Wire control and four default riding modes – STANDARD, SPORT, RAIN and GRAVEL – cover the urban to dirt tracks, and everything in between, plus you can go fully custom. Honda Selectable Torque Control is newly optimised for smoother traction management in RAIN and GRAVEL mode. And, just like the new CRF1100L Africa Twin, the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) has been superbly updated to enhance start/stop and low-speed feel, with the new cruise control perfectly in sync.
From urban to off-road, the X-ADV’s agile chassis handles impeccably. It starts with the strength of a tubular steel diamond-style mainframe, and the bump absorbing abilities of long stroke USD forks (153mm/130mm front and rear) and Pro-Link rear shock. Then builds in an upright riding position, for superb all-round visibility and control. Seat height is 820mm and the seat itself, now with 10% more urethane foam, is comfortable and contoured for easy ground reach. The finishing touch? Motorcycle levels of grip from the 17/15-inch front and rear wheel combination, wearing 120/70-17 and 160/60-15 tyres.

Research before Booking!
I spent a good year and more doing research on this adventure touring scooter before I decided to make my booking.
I must warn those who are keen on buying this “mutant”, that the accessories shown in the videos and marketing material are all extras. So, be ready to shell out a handsome amount if you want Honda genuine accessories. Just to give you an idea, your touring pack + the adventure pack + style pack will cost you about 18-25% the value of the vehicle.
When you do the research, you will understand that if you get one pack, you will need the other.

Booking and Formalities
I did keep in touch with someone from Honda Big Wing for the past one year, however, he was unable to help. With my constant research and calling I was finally directed to Honda Big Wing Topline, Bangalore.
This, I was informed, is the only center that is accepting limited bookings for the Honda CB1000 Hornet, CBR650, CBR650RR, CB750 and X-ADV 750.
These Units will be brought into the country as CBU and as we all are aware, costs will be higher.
I did have a very pleasant experience at the showroom. They were happy to accept the booking for an amount of INR25,000/-. I was also informed that when the shipping order will be placed, I, will be informed.
All formalities that are involved in booking any vehicle was carried out in a professional way.
If any of you are interested in making any bookings for the above-mentioned models, do contact the said dealer.
I am attaching receipts of the booking that I have made. I just can’t wait to get the “mutant” in my possession!!!

The recent update that I got from Honda Big Wing Topline is that the deliveries will commence from June 2025, as Honda is planning an official launch of this model along with the other 4 models which will be introduced as a CBU.

Happy Riding!!
