Ola to launch its electric scooter in July in India

IMO all the colours that Vespa has for their scooters will look good on this scooter. Apart from this black, Ola's whit and green combo will sure make it on the scooter I feel.

Ola e-scooter factory nearing completion

The first phase of Ola Electric's e-scooter factory is nearing completion. The company's CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, has shared an image showing the progress made over the last 4 months.



Aggarwal tweeted: "In just four months, this place has transformed from acres of empty rock land to the world's largest 2W factory. The Ola Futurefactory phase 1 is nearing completion! The scooters are coming soon."

Ola is constructing the world's biggest 2-wheeler factory in Tamil Nadu. The new facility is spread over 500 acres. Once the construction of Phase 1 is complete, the factory will have an initial production capacity of 2 million units per year.

It will become the global manufacturing hub for Ola's range of electric 2-wheelers. Besides India, it will serve also international markets including Europe, UK, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Australia and New Zealand.

Ola's first electric scooter looks similar to the Etergo Appscooter. It is expected to use a 6 kW electric motor that is likely to be powered by a swappable battery, offering a maximum range of 240 km.

Talking to CNBC, Ola Electric CFO GR Arun Kumar revealed the launch timeline of their scooters.

The FutureFactory is almost ready and the scooters are set to be launched in July. Multiple models will be introduced by Ola Electric. The CFO also hinted at very competitive pricing for new scooters. Deliveries for these will begin in August.

In Phase I, the factory will have production capacity of two million units and another production line will be added after every two quarters. The company expects to produce one million scooters this year.

If these are priced anywhere close to the ICE counterparts, we can expect a run on the scooters. Given the cost of fuel, I am sure a bulk of two wheeler sales will be cornered by this.
Ather and iQube are still considered niche due to limited production. These guys are looking to flood the market.

It will be interesting to see what the ICE manufacturers do to combat this flood of EVs.

Indeed. It intrigued me as well. Partly because, I have to struggle to fit one adult helmet in my Hero Pleasure.
Personally I feel Ola scooter looks much better than Ather. I hope they price it well. Really looking forward for its launch.

Ahh, this looks good.

My gut feeling says this can be a promising and a very practical product.
Looks a lot of thought has gone into it, in designing the product and understanding the scooter market and people mentality using it.

Ola for sure would be leveraging the Cab ecosystem they have in place to make the product usable in multiple ways.

Somehow looks like Ather energy is lagging in-terms of business idea.
If the ola is priced sensibly it will make life difficult for Ather.
Only advantage with them would be a slightly aggressive styling which might appeal to a few limiting their target market.
