Just checked the founder's twitter account. People who booked the scooter are complaining about zero customer support. There has been no announcement from the company from 1.5 months now. No delivery dates. The CEO did this a couple days after reveal:
(Picture attached)

Looks like they rushed things just to steal attention from Ola and nothing is ready.

Re: Dubious claims of the Simple Energy One electric scooter | Might be based on an Ather (page 3)

I am pretty confident that simple one is vaporware.

I think it was meant to be an attention diversion by Ather themselves. I bet Ather must have been looking at launch events very closely and it would have been lawsuits all around if they found out that simple is using their vehicle with tweaked panels.

What makes this all the more weird is that Ola themselves seem to be finding it hard to float in the flood of expectations they have created.

The company claims to have over 30,000 bookings and also has some good news for customers who have to bear with the delayed delivery. Rajkumar tells us that the scooter will have styling changes and that the final production scooter will look sleeker and more pleasing than the product showcased last August. Among those that he was willing to discuss are changes to the headlight and tail-lamp.

The company says that it is also working on improving the rider ergonomics, vehicle dynamics and the suspension comfort. We’re told that there will also be performance upgrades, but what these are will be disclosed at a later date. What remains unchanged is the promised 203km of real-world range in Eco mode and the price of Rs 1.1 lakh, ex-showroom.

Simple Energy announces motor upgrade for One e-scooter

Bengaluru-based EV start-up Simple Energy has announced a motor upgrade for its first e-scooter, the One. The One was launched on Independence Day last year, but deliveries are slated to begin only in June this year.

The company says it has made improvements to efficiency, thermal management, and performance. The claimed efficiency figure for the motor is now 96 percent, but an earlier figure was never released, so it’s unclear how much improvement has been made here.

Simple also says that this motor upgrade will result in quicker performance than that promised at launch, even though the upgraded motor still produces the same 72Nm as before. As for the power output, the One was originally announced with a 4.5kW figure, which was then upped to 8.5kW on the day of the launch. This upgraded motor continues to produce 8.5kW, as per the latest information from Simple.

Simple one keeps upgrading the specs and the scooter on paper. What about real world? No one has seen the scooter till now. Hope the company can live up to their announcements and give some serious competition to other EV manufacturers.

Re: Dubious claims of the Simple Energy One electric scooter | Might be based on an Ather (page 3)

Going by the looks of this electric scooter (The frame, tyres etc) , this appears to be a White-labelled Ather 450. Or, am I wrong?

If so, then Ather is an OEM. Not just a own-brand manufacturer. Sounds like a better business plan.

Has anyone seen a Simple One scooter 300km radius of Bangalore where it is being supposedly developed and manufactured? If not, there is unlikely one to exist.

Launched, but can not buy. So 300 or 600 km of range does not matter much as the only development happening is at their branding and marketing team to release such posters out.

Very sad to see an Indian startup acting public like this and literally makes Rajiv Bajaj apt on his OATS controversy

Re: Dubious claims of the Simple Energy One electric scooter | Might be based on an Ather (page 3)

Saw this test mule of an electric scooter about a month back in Yelahanka, Bangalore. Looked quite slow as the rider was struggling to overtake other vehicles. Caught up with the vehicle at an intersection and asked the driver which vehicle it was and he mentioned it was from simple energy.

Tough their specs look stupendous on paper, don't think we will get to ride one anytime soon.

Desi Nikola hai yeh! Nikal lo iske chakkar se!

Translation: This is a desi Nikola in the making! Better stay away from it!

This can't be a Simple One. I see a shock absorber on the side but the simple one should come with a centre monoschock as announced in their launch event (see below image)

So either the rider must have told you a lie or the centre monoshock shown during the launch event was a lie...both of which is probable...especially after what we've seen so far.

The third possibility is Simple developing a different scooter altogether!...probability of which is quite low IMO.
