re: Scram 411: Royal Enfield Himalayan's road-biased variant

I want to be excited for Scram, but it's very hard to come up with any compliments or appreciation for Royal Enfield for such attempts. Like the "Trails" or "Trials" whatever that was, they dress up existing bikes in new colors and after a weight loss by removing some very important bits come up with some snazzy names to sell them at 15-20K less to hapless Indian junta.
Royal Enfield is on a great path of bringing world class products and exercises such as "Scram" are nothing but attempts to put some numbers to help their R&D for upcoming good products. Like they sold the classic 350 for years to then have enough in the kitty to come up with 650 twins. I respect them for their strategy. But at-least they could put it in little more effort and make a genuinely likeable product.

Honest opinion on Scram - Wheels are too big for a "Commuter" persona. That fly screen should be left at the dealership and put into plastic recyclables. They could have kept the navigation pod, it's a useful feature.

Overall i think Scram is an after thought by RE and don't think it'll have any effect on the sales numbers.

Re: Rumour: Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser to be called Super Meteor

RE has sent a mail to block date 15/03/2022 with a gif file where you can see the upcoming road biased tourer Scram 411.

Let’s see what RE has to offer with this product.

Cheers.

re: Scram 411: Royal Enfield Himalayan's road-biased variant

I wish by some means they show the difference in weight of the bike. If they can cut the weight by 25kgs to 30 kgs (I know it is too much to ask for )
and bring it to 170 kgs and less, I will for one think of it. I currently ride a 2008 thunderbird twinspark which weighs around 180kgs. My next ride will certainly have the mandatory qualification of cutting the weight down so that it is nimble to handle and easy to park and if gets punctured, we can still stroll down without too much of sweat

Here are some clear pictures of the upcoming Himalayan Scram 411. It looks like it will take on the Yezdi Scrambler. Lets see how the market reacts to the launch.

From the screen grabs it looks like the rider is doing all ADV stuff on the Scram which is the intended purpose of OG Himalayan. So what different purpose Scram serve? I am confused.

I think the Scram is trying to take on the Yezdi’s Scrambler which won’t be as good as the Himalayan/Adventure in off roads but would still be able to provide a balance between paved roads and off roads with some bias towards the tarmac. That’s where the smaller front wheels (19’ vs 21’) comes into picture to provide a more connected feel at the front.

Also the Scram would target folks who want a ADV tourer for long distances without any off roading. Hopefully the Scram would shave off some weight to give it a better performance on the tarmac when compared to the Himalayan.

One example that I can think of is BMW 750GS and 850GS. Both came with same engine (higher tune in 850), same frame but the 750 GS was more Tarmac focused than 850 GS.

re: Scram 411: Royal Enfield Himalayan's road-biased variant

These days the length of seeing the photos and videos of test bikes / cars, spy shots, interior spy shots, rendering, launch, test ride, price announcement, customer delivery often overtakes the Doordarshan episodes.

Bring that damn bike soon! After all, this is same as the Himalayan.

re: Scram 411: Royal Enfield Himalayan's road-biased variant

Grey and yellow combination looks good. Rest all bike colors/combinations are not to my liking. Not sure the purpose of the headlight casing, it looks out of place (especially on the white color bike).

RE should have retained the navigation pod from the Himalayan/Meteor and should have given a center stand as this is a road variant of the Himalayan which would be useful while touring.

Overall, I feel RE has given us a confusing bike, neither an adventure nor a scrambler.

On white-red model the decals are funny. On the left cowl letters 'R' and 'O' merge but on the right cowl, they don't and look like R9.

If the bike weighs 165 and below I may consider it as my TB500 replacement. Let's see how it drives on the road. This Scram could be the lightest of the REs sold now.

Edit: And the headlight is turning alongwith handle bar which itself is an achievement for RE's Himalayan design team.

re: Scram 411: Royal Enfield Himalayan's road-biased variant

Contrary to popular opinion on the forum, I like what RE has done with the scram. New colors should "make it look" better suited for the city and might attract the crowd. Now whether it is suitable for regular city commute is altogether a different question

I think they projected himalayan as a complete adventure motorcycle and will project this as an urban commuter also capable to go off road when needed.

Would love to get that sunset strip tank on the scram for my granite black himalayan once it is a few years old and full of scratches courtesy in house cats.

Don't know man, to me the biggest feature they could implement in Scram is the chassis that does not break in two upon impact.
