How can I say I am riding a Guerilla, sounding very similar to Gorilla!

Digressing a little, but Guerilla pronunciation has the L silent - so it is more like "gue-riyah". So we can safely say there is no chance of someone confusing the rider being on the back of a hairy ape

Also, saw the petition mentions the word "Guerilla" has no connection to pure riding. Che Guevara is renowned around the world as a guerilla leader - and his intercontinental motorcycle journey is also legendary - so one can have a connection there as well.

Thirdly, the word "Guerilla" comes from the spanish word Guerra (meaning war) with the suffix "illa" (meaning little). Guerilla warfare literally means small wars which help one achieve a larger goal. Doesn't that sound romantic, one's two-wheeled partner in the little wars of mundane daily life to get to the end goal of having an extraordinary adventure?

Forgive me if this was out of topic, or if I did sound condescending - but Guerilla will suit this machine fine, IMHO

I would be unstoppable riding a silver-back. Imagine your ride can toss aside road blocks with a swing of left arm and can go on-road, off-road and on-tree off-tree.

On a serious note regarding the naming, if we expect naming convention similar to how the scram was introduced ( Himalayan Scram 411), then Himalayan Guerilla 450 might be a mouthful.

Looking forward to see the new engine.

Re: TVS iQube S | Initial Ownership Review

The only thing that separates this vs a 100 times superior Dual Sport motorcycle aka the 390 Adventure is a small amount of money.

Before we get into a debate let us not forget that KTM has built reliable and long lasting single cylinders engines such as the LC4 and their prowess and dominant in the dirt bike needs no description.

What remains is REs brand value and yet to be proven J platform reliability. The UCEs start drinking oil too soon and IMO the J platform will not be vastly different!

Mind you, they've got their engineers from Triumph when developing the 650 platform. So naturally you use the same team to design something that the competition offers, and be a step above them.

This is as far as I know.

Thanks for the informative and entertaining post.

If named as Guerilla, I do not think anybody is going to call this a "gueriyah". How much does the Gorilla cost is the question I am expecting people too ask

I picked the name from news channels on internet and checked Oxford dictionary website for pronunciation. Both words sound very similar.

Oh please! We surely have enough inspirational riders amongst ourselves instead of seeking a foreigner and a foreign language.

Respect your opinion. But the image of riding a silverback is now stuck in my head

If they don't change the name, I am going to remove the name from the bike and introduce it as Himalayan 450 to whoever asks. Simple!

The Tiger tank is wonderful to hold between leg when doing stand up riding so I think it's good they got inspired from something which is proven liked by lot of Riders. Overall the bike looks purposeful.
What is your opinion of SM650? I am holding off the buy only cause of the stiff suspension. Is it really stiff? I owned a Himalayan and loved its sofa like comfort.

re: 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 | Now officially revealed

Apparently, the specs have been revealed ahead of the launch:

https://www.motorbeam.com/royal-enfi...ead-of-launch/
Quote:
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 will be powered by a new 451.65cc single-cylinder liquid cooled engine that produces 39.47 BHP. The peak power output of this motor will be available at 8000 RPM. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. In comparison, the current Himalayan on sale produces 24.3 HP at 6500 RPM.

The wheelbase of the new ADV is 1510 mm, which is much longer than the current one’s 1465 mm. The width of the new bike is 852 mm, which has gone up from 840 mm. Length of the bike has increased to 2245 mm from 2190 mm.
There's also a video floating around of the upcoming Himalayan at a racetrack.

Looks like it will be called the Himalayan 452 according to the approval document.

Is it possible to get the full image which shows the torque spec also?

Using the KTM 390 ADV as reference which has kerb weight of 177 kg. Its owner manual states the "Maximum permissible overall weight" to be 375 kg. Now assuming this to be the gross vehicle weight it gives the assumed weight of Rider+Pillion+luggage to be 198kg.

Putting this value back for the Himalayan 452 gives its Kerb weight to be 394-198= 196 kg. A little on the higher side but not bad assuming it has 20L fuel tank.

Surely seems like a typo. How can a 2 wheeler, that too liquid cooled, single cylinder be 394 kgs? Even SM is 220kgs.
Maybe 180 Bike+100rider+114 pillion

If say one subtracts 2x75 Kgs to substitute for a Rider and Pillion, then it would come to around 237 Kgs. If you subtract say, another 15 Kgs in Luggage (10 Kgs in Loaded Saddle Bags and 5Kgs in a Loaded Top Box), then around 220 Kgs would be my guess +- another 5-10 Kgs
