Re: Next-gen Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 caught testing in India

Has the wet weight decreased further, compared to present Duke 390? I can't find any info so far.
Let's hope it did.
Overall, the segment leading 152 kgs weight isn't found again after 2013-15 model, which is sad.

There's only one way to change the image. Buy Duke 390 and ride responsibly with proper riding gears & road manners. Many including me are doing this in the entire country, although I have the oldest model of 390.
And eventually things change. YZF R15, and to some extent, Pulsar are big examples of this.

Till what time will we continue to be strangled by people's perception? When will we influence it ourselves?

The greatest shame is that Chhapri bikes always tend to be the greatest value for money propositions. It's a shame we are so concerned about what people think.
Well said.

Are these spoked rims tubed or tubeless? Not able to find any definite specification anywhere.

Tubed. Look at the orientation of the spokes carefully.

Oh bummer. Not sure how much of a utility a spoked wheel would be on what's essentially a road biased bike. Hopefully there's an alloy wheel version.

Ugh. If only the duke had this much room to move around in the rider's seat. Cannot even swap out the subframe this time around. Come on KTM, get your stuff together. Your 400cc lineup is in shambles when it comes to versatility. Its either the cramped duke or an essentially single seater husky or if you want proper wind protection and aero you get the old bike with India spec suspension.

It's unfortunate that the Vit is only available as a 250 and the Svart as the 401. I'm not sure why they chose to make it so.

Also, why don't they have the 125 Husky? Would be a great bike for more senior folks (me) looking for a minimalist/ premium city bike which is lightweight.

Re: Next-gen Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 caught testing in India

Ufff! I was waiting for this bike. But did not expect it to launch so quickly. The spoke wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR was the combo I wanted on the Duke. I love this neo-retro styling. I have booked an Interceptor 650 due for delivery next month, but I'm seriously considering cancelling my booking to go for this.
Do you think it is worth letting go of a twin cylinder beast for this super convenient retro-naked?

The Huskies always looked better than the Dukes
I just wish they had leaned more into the Scrambler aspect with more upright bars and mid-mount pegs.

How are the wiring done? Is it nearly tucked away? I'm considering Vit 250

The 401 looks delicious But why spoke wheels? Do they want to position the 401 as cafe racer which can do offroading as well? The pricing too is very close to that of the Himalayan 450. Waiting for the media reviews

People abroad having been using the previous gen 401 for decently challenging trails. Now with the improved ground clearance, slightly more suspension travel at 150/150mm, larger seat, larger fuel tank and torquey engine, it does make sense as a good short distance tourer/explorer. The spoke rims do allow for more peace of mind while bashing about on the trails compared to alloys.

In any case, I feel the price difference to the duke390 can be utilised to purchase a set of vitpilen/d250/d390 alloys(which do seem to be the same. Anyone can confirm?)and road focused tires as a spare set, to be used while on long distance tour for the peace of mind. Should be a direct swap considering the suspension and braking components are the same.
