I rode the 350. But I don't expect the 500 to be any different at all. However, i am awaiting their "new" model that Siddarth Lal has been talking about for almost a year now.

Enfields can be made into relatively fun bikes to ride - look at what Egli has done...he's made some great machines. That cafe racer is all his creation, so is the left hand side gear shifter, which Enfield finally started to manufacture for their exports, and now offer it for their demestics as well.

To be fair, i haven't ridden a new enfield. I don't really have a wanting to ride one either, but thats besides the point. I think I'll make it a point this saturday to do down and take a test tide on their latest.

Will get back to you'll about this.

Try a TB or an Electra 04...they say its damn good....500 is supposed to be simply awesome!!
P.S: try to get a ride in a bike which has clocked atleast 5k-6k Kms.

i'd go for the Karizma , overall it is the best bike today and after all its under the brand name of Hero Honda, the Pulsar DTS-i 180 is a nice bike, but still has some problems, after all it is a Bajaj

Karizma for me on these choices

The best bike I have driven so far is my mighty CBZ. Once I went for a test ride on Enfield Thunderbird. It has good ride. But for 85 grand, you expect atleast a clean looking engine, not with oil all over it.

I think Thunderbird is not as fun to drive as Machismo...

Hey Rtech,

Actually there is a night and day difference between the 350 and the 500 when it comes to noticeable power.
But, since you like a bike that can revv, take corners and basically go fast. It will be more like a night and dawn difference for you

guys i have to say rd 350 is the best around....rode one today and did a top speed of 130+ kmph ..and i still cant get over it....the acceleration was like dream...the bike i rode is of a friend and is well maintained... and i was riding it on the khargar 6 lane road....and the adreline ruch was unbeliveable...after riding the rd 350 cant imagine how wud one feel after riding 600cc + bikes....the best part was in 2nd and 3rd gear....it litrally was pulling me backwards....and in the 6th gear when i managed 130kmph it was vibrating badly...my friend tells me tat he has done 160kmph on it once... it was a awesome experince riding the rd350.

i'm a Royal Enfield fan too.
maybe, the other bikes listed here are good but unfortunately they don't do anything to excite me.
btw shravan i think the 500 is still on sale.

Yup the 500 is still on sale.......but, the problem is that verry few bikes are sold every month, so the rejected pieces from the US and Europe export stocks are sold here.Atleast, thats what many mechanics say here in Bangalore. The new 500's are very problematic compared to the older ones.

Second hand 500's are very rare. No one wants to let go of it!
