Yamaha seems to be taking us for granted like most other manufacturers, "We Indians will buy anything as long as it looks a bit different than the older one" .. A 150cc bike pitched as a tourer?? How good is that? it has'nt got the power or the torque required for relaxed touring ! lets just hope the 250 is'nt a hoax..

Only in India.
The only decent bikes Yamaha has manufactured here are the RD350 and RX100. The rest of them are mopeds. Lets hope that they really do release a 250.
I suppose a bike can be sold these days on looks alone and the manufacturers know this. Arre, hum logon ke zamaane mein....

This is exactly a Fz16 with a fairing :-) - Headlamps remind me of R15

You mix and match and charge 7K more (I think FZ16 is 75K OTR Bangalore).

I feel P220 DTS-i is VFM though! Yamaha, get 200 / 250 cc and then we're talking!

XXAARRAA did you checked the engine capacity properly or atleast the piston size or bore size in parts catalog as 75K for 200 or 250 cc is quite cheap and look wise i feel its same 150CC FZ, looks like again people looking out for 200+ cc bike will get disappointed.

I cannot seem to understand the purpose of this bike?? Perhaps this is mainly for export and also being sold in the local market.

The mechanicals of the bike are exactly the same as the regular FZ. The only addition is the fairing which will make it a better bike for the highways. Like someone said earlier..the new 220 DTS-i offers more value and much more performance.

Well Indians have a liking for faired sporty bikes. Karizma & R15 are the best examples.

Keeping the success of FZ16 in mind this faired version if priced well should sell in good numbers as many would want to have a dual headlight Faired bike with Monoshock & 140 section rear tyre.

For 72,000 Ex showroom Delhi, I think it is little costly. But it might sell in good numbers, as well. Looks and only looks make or break a bike in India!

1) The bike is expensive for what it is offering.
2) I hope the seating position is not so much sports oriented. But in reality, even after changing the seat, I noticed in image that the bike has rear set front foot pegs which is not good for a tourer. May be its a sports tourer, but for that job Kaz is much better.
3) I fail to understand what is the headlight set up. Is is that both the bulb are dual filaments ( both the bulbs have filaments for high beam and low beam ) or both are single filaments ( one bulb for low beam and one for high beam ).
4) Rear brake is still drum. Disc at this price would be appreciated.
5) Fuel tank is only 12 ltrs. Tourers are suppossed to have larger fuel tanks. My Caliber ( the best bike I have ever ridden ) had 14.8 ltrs. Tourers need this.

Basically a cosmetic upgrade and nothing more. The feature I really appreciate is dual headlamp setup. I almost died on 2nd july due to useless intensity of my headlamp unit.

Seems all the players are waiting for the other player to launch first.

When Yamaha launched R-15, thought they are different from the regular Indian players. Now, Yamaha is one of them. At least they could have put a 180 cc mill in this bike.
