re: BMW 320d & 328i (F30) : Official Review

Guys,
Recently the right side view mirror on my 2013 328i got shattered in a minor accident, so i called up the dealer to ask for replacing the same.
To my utter surprise, the quote for just the glass is Rs. 36829 + labor and taxes. Can some one confirm if this is true or is my dealer trying to rip me off.

Its because the glass is heated and self dimming. That is why it is significantly more expensive than a regular mirror glass.

I also checked out another site with similar results for the heated and self dimming glasses.

re: BMW 320d & 328i (F30) : Official Review

Hello Friends, just got some unconfirmed information that BMW is contemplating launching the 3 series sedan with the same engine as the 330i GT i.e. 330i. The person sharing the information said, if they do ,it might be by March or April of this year.

Any one else having any such information?

re: BMW 320d & 328i (F30) : Official Review

I tried to update the idrive software (UPD07012.bin). The information that I am getting is "the software cannot be updated in this vehicle. For more details please visit www.bmw.com/update". I do not understand why I am getting this message. Does anyone know how to do it? The idrive is in BMW 320i. Thanks.

re: BMW 320d & 328i (F30) : Official Review

Hello Friends, after waiting for a very long long time for BMW to launch the 328/330/340i and not getting any positive indication of the same, I have finally booked the 320d in Sport Line trim in Melbourne red with black interiors. Hope to get the delivery by 10th of March.

It was a little tough choice for me. I actually had 2 requirements.

1) The car had to a nice red colour with black interiors. This was very important for me.

2) I really wanted to go for a fun to drive petrol engine.

Now BMW did launch 320i last year but sadly no Sport Line/ M Sport trim, therefore no red colour. Then in October the GT was launched as 330i but again no red colour. I actually also briefly considered buying a new car and getting it painted to red, but then it was not a very practical decision. So finally, I settled for something in between. A diesel engine, but the car would look the way I really wanted it to look.

You could consider buying the car of your choice and having it vinyl wrapped in any color of your choice.

I want a Head Up Display for my 320d. BMW now offers a retrofit for Rs.66000/-. Any idea if it would be as good as the factory fitted one, and would it be cheaper to get one from Dubai etc and have it installed here?

Are you referring to something like this?

No this won't be same, factory one has a special windshield on which display is projected. It's useful but not something that one misses after initial euphoria has settled.

check if BMW has some options for LCD Instrument cluster instead

Yes, it's the same. Ok, I'll skip this and save Rs.66000/- for the new 3 series, which will have this built in!

Thanks. I did check that with 3M folks, it has a limited life of approximately 3 years only.

Has anyone gone for the Alpine music upgrade? As per the BMW accessory person, it is a good upgrade from Prestige editions but not really needed for Luxury/ Sport Line editions. Any inputs would be welcome.

Thanks.

The 9 speaker music system in the Sportline is very good as it is. In my view, there is no point going for the Alpine system.

Use Poweramp app to get the best results.

I had enquired for the same since I have a Prestige edition and the dealer quoted me 1.25 lakhs which I didn't find a value proposition. Has anyone installed Bavasound, heard read lot about them on other forums. Does someone have any idea where to get this installed, in Mumbai or Gujarat.

Congratulations in advance. Really, a sweet looking car. I understand that the mileage is very good, with a diesel.
What would be the annual maintenance on this? What is the resale value of these cars say after 5 years of ownership?
