In some markets they are selling the new Hilux and new Fortuner models with old KDFTV series engines. It is not due to quality of fuel available since both KDFTV and GDFTV have similar fuel specs.

In that case are they sending left over stocks /kits to underdeveloped countries?

Thats so bad considering they pay a full price and get an old generation inferior product

No idea regarding the pricing premium. Old engine in new model shouldn't be a concern really if the market responds well.

Same case here in India, isn't it? Many cars we get are inferior in some way or the other if we were to compare it with the rest of the world.

I agree that we Indians used to get a 2nd class treatment when it comes to cars.

Thankfully things have been improving in the past few years for example the current generation Fortuner and Endeavour are the same as what is available in the rest of the world.

debatable, how they operate. LandCruiser Prado in India which is about 3 times of costs of Fortuner still carries older engine & 5 Speed Gearbox

Re: Toyota Fortuner : Official Review

Yes, elsewhere Prado has been updated with the 2.8 GDFTV engine which does duty in Crysta, Fortuner & Hilux. Theres a difference though Prado's 1GDFTV gets a balancer shaft for more refinement. Other three doesnt.

Agree with you

to know that the current Prado still comes with the older D4D and 5 speed gear box

Really appreciate Ford for discarding old technology and giving us the current versions

Re: Toyota Fortuner : Official Review

Cannot stop laughing ,imagining the resulting ride quality.with this ultra low profile Modification

Some people give so much importance to bling rather than comfort.

Forget about the ride quality. They are not even looking cool. Think about the suspension, not sure how long it will last with such thin tyres.

Re: Toyota Fortuner : Official Review

Is anyone here using this cover for the spare wheel.?
Looks neat

Don't know how it stays up there and works with the tyre removal mechanism.

Toyota should have given this as a standard. Mitsubishi does so on the outlander

Look at Lexus. Lexus Gold was a rage in 1993 in USA especially among well to do Indian origin doctors. And Toyota had no plans then to launch Lexus anywhere else. Now after 25 years they are launching in India.

Not only automobiles, even electronic giants like Panasonic have similar marketing policies. For example, the quality and features of even the landline telephone sets they supply to big corporate America is totally of highest scale compared to what they retail to ordinary Americans in Amazon/Ebay.

Usually companies tend to sell the minimum viable product that meets the country's laws and norms. Had BS4 not kicked in, Toyota might have continued to sell the older engine in India as well.
Could be OT! If pls ignore.

This does not sound good from green & environment strategy Toyota might have. The automobile companies should be proactive in HSE (Health Safety & Environment) cases which adds immeasurable brand image to them.

Toyota was trumpeting just recently that Indian Government should not allow BS III vehicles to be sold/manufactured or in that line (just because they have BS VI engines already in many of their models). I assumed its because of environment actually first!

Toyota sounds like they only care about business/profit and not about environment or people? Sounds not good from image perspective, because there are 3rd world countries (Africa some asia) and what will happen there if the automobile companies does not take a stand before the standards step in.

Re: Toyota Fortuner : Official Review

Got Blaupunkt TPMS from Amazon and installed myself. Display is light blue which quietly merges with blue cabin, footwell and dash lighting.

Also bought Bergmann Hurricane car vacuum ( after lot of skepticism about suction power of car vacuum, this one is satisfactory).

Few pictures taken by detailer at his outlet after the coating.

Installed Dashcam (Lukas-9370 Dual wi-fi 1080p) by Toyota dealer's accessories technicians.

Items remaining: Rear Pillar LED lamps, Sun-Shades and silicon key cover.

Carryboy dealer in Bangaluru has not yet dispatched the roof carrier despite taking advance 10 days back.
And then i will be all set for this year's Himalayan trips.

India and Cambodia seem to have different emission standards. Refer to the images below, India is following a roadmap while Cambodia does not seem to have any emission standards for diesel vehicles!! Also, Sulphur content in diesel in India is 50 ppm while in Cambodia it is ~2000 ppm!!

Given the quality of diesel available, it is likely that the newer engine (read lower emissions) will likely not work/fail quickly.

Having an older engine in another country may not be a choice for Toyota.

Ref: Indian Standards, Cambodian Standards, Indian Diesel Sulphur Content.
