Hi bro! Could you please share the pictures and information regarding dashcam installation? The connection to power socket/USB and especially rear camera installation? I want to get the same for my Ignis, hence. Thanks in advance!

Sure!

This is the link to the dashcam i bought:
https://dl.flipkart.com/s/0FEAr6NNNN

Flipkart delivered on time and no hassles with delivery or the device. They also have doorstep installation service for 299, which i did not opt for (I should have). I preferred a nearby person who did a good job too but charged 800!

There is a USB socket that comes in the box, but I already had a USB car charger connected to the cigarette lighter port. I connected the dashcam directly to that.

The rear dashcam wiring is taken through the roof lining and all the way to the back. The front dashcam too is taken through the roof lining > A pillar > tucked neatly under the glove box > cigarette lighter with USB charger socket.

I recommend having someone knowledgeable to do it for you if you are setting up a rear dashcam also. Only front dashcam, almost anyone can do.

Let me know if want any specific info, and I will put it up!

The total on-road price came up to ₹7,66,000. I haven't opted for an extended warranty; the default warranty is 3 years / 100,000 km.

The first thing I did post-delivery was to get the tyres exchanged. I went ahead with the Bridgestone Turanza 6i. I liked these tyres. I have recently bought them for my seltos, and they are on par with the Continental UC6 or Michelin Primacy series.

The original price of these tyres was ₹7,000 each, but after the exchange, I got them for ₹3,000 each. Tyre pressure is set at 33psi.

The tyres come with 3 year, unconditional warranty.

This car is purely city-run, but since we couldn't get the local RTA (lack of proof of address), we took the delivery in Hyderabad. We did a highway run yesterday to drive to my hometown (170km). We were 2 adults, 1 kid and we had 3 suitcases. The mileage shown on MID was 23km/l (I failed to take a photo)

When we took the delivery, the Odo had 113 km and is now 386km. The mileage shown on MID is 20.8 km/l.

This morning, I took the car for service. Since it has been sitting idle since June 2023, I changed the oil and oil filter. This is purely OCD and for my peace of mind, which came at a cost of ₹1,950

There was also an error message "Service parking sensors" which I got it checked as well.
I completed my first refuelling of the Ignis, and according to the MID (Multi-Information Display), the mileage was 19.8 km/l. The Drivvo app showed a figure of 18.8 km/l.

After refueling, I drove a total of 305 km, with the MID indicating a mileage of 20.6 km/l. Out of those 305 km, 170 km were on the highway and 135 km were within the city.

This morning, I took the car in for its first free service. Out of a total of 1000 km driven, I've completed 680 km on the highway and the remaining distance in the city. We won’t be using this car for highway runs in the future. Although we purchased it primarily as a city vehicle, we also wanted a second car capable of handling short highway trips.

I bought a Dicky Sunshade from Amazon , and it fits perfectly. It cuts down a lot of sun coming into the cabin, but the only downside is that visibility from the rearview mirror decreases drastically.

During my recent trip to Kerala earlier this month, I noticed a significantly higher number of Ignis cars on the roads compared to what I've seen in Telangana over the past six months. I can't help but wonder why!

Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase of the Ignis. It surprises me that it doesn't sell in higher numbers. Given the quality of the car and its excellent engine, I believe it deserves more recognition and sales.

Hey! Thanks for the much required elaborate information and photos!

Only 3 more questions:

1. Why did you not opt for 2K-4K dashcam as the price difference isn't that much? And why did you not opt for the super-capacitor ones? (If they are really required)

2. It isn't removable right? and the adhesive doesn't come off like it does for other stickers like the registration one?

3. Where can I see your dashcam video postings?

Only 3 more questions:
A1. Flipkart was giving a deal of 7k for both front and rear dashcam, which at the time was definitely a sweet deal. I also wanted the dashcam to be delivered in 1 day as I had a long distance trip planned the day after. I did not really think much about super capacitors vs lithium batteries in the dashcam as the online reviews for the above said that the battery/dashcam is holding up well even in harsh heat/sunlight. Considering that the number of instances of me exposing my car to direct harsh sunlight is less, I did not base my decision on it. Worst case scenario, I remove the dashcam and take it with me!

A2. No, the adhesive does not come off. The front dashcam unit, however, can be removed but the dashcam slider remains. Thie slider is stuck on the windshield using the adhesive strip and you slide the dashcam in it. Then you can adjust the dashcam lens to your liking. (Hope it is not too confusing!)
The rear dashcam cannot be removed once stuck using the adhesive strip.

A3. You can see my videos on @dashcam_enthusiast on Instagram!

Re: Maruti Ignis : Official Review

I have been contemplating adding more lighting for my Ignis. But, I have a few differing ideas on this. I would live the forum’s inputs on it:

1. A good set of LED fog lamps to replace the OEM ones. I love the look of the new gen Baleno LED fog lamps, but will it fit in the fog lamp housing of an Ignis?

2. Alternatively, any good fog lamps bulbs that you guys personally attest for is good too, which can replace the OEM ones.

3. A light bar like in this one to supplement the fog lamps: https://images.app.goo.gl/JqAVpraTRQD5Y7mS9

Which of the above is the best idea? I am aware that extremely bright or blinding bulbs is illegal too.

My use case is that I travel early mornings on road trips and sometimes, there are rural/barren roads. So I want something bright. I don’t intend to use them in city limits (if too bright that is) so as to not inconvenience other motorists.

Budget is around 5k and I’m willing to extend a bit if it’s worth it.

Any input is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Maruti Ignis : Official Review

Hi, has anyone here recently booked a Pearl Midnight Black Ignis? Or did they stop the production of this colour altogether? We were assured that we would get a Pearl Midnight black car when we paid the booking amount 2 months back. We were told that it might take a while to allot. We've not heard from the dealership since.

Looks like Maruti is not manufacturing the other 4-5 colors other than White, Blue, Silver and Grey. They will manufacture in the other colors when they have sufficient orders from across the country. So you may need to either wait longer (open ended), or pick one of the above four colours.

This is the same case with the Wagon-R also: I had also asked about the brown colour Wagon-R, but got the above answer.

While the brochure lists the other 2 colours and the Dual Tones, these are not available readily. Maruti seems to be discouraging the other colors, possibly due to lower overall sales of the Ignis as compared to last year.

Re: Maruti Ignis : Official Review

Hi,

I have a 2018 Ignis Delta Petrol AMT. Lately, I have noticed a problem - While driving, the car will suddenly give a jerk and engine will lose power. This happens randomly and nothing seems to cause or prevent it (speed, fuel level, duration of driving etc). I have to then move the gear to Neutral, turn the key for ignition, move the gear to Drive and then move forward. This has happened a few times, and when this happens, there is a light for ABS that comes on as well (picture attached).

What can I do to fix this? The Maruti service center says that it will likely require ABS to be replaced, which is a hefty expenditure. Has anyone else faced anything similar? I am not even sure what does ABS have to do with power to the engine. Any pointers or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Which color did you buy? I was told last December that Maruti has silently discontinued colors like Turquoise Blue and Orange even though they still appeared on their website.

I faced this jerk and engine shut down only once (Actually twice within 5 minutes). In bumper to bumper traffic. Was stuck for more than an hour. May be the gearbox oil heated up and the engine stalled. My service was due then, I replaced the gearbox oil in the same service. Never experienced it again. Neither have I experienced an bumper to bumper traffic exceeding more than an hour.

I bought a Pearl Arctic White. This morning, I spoke to the local Nexa Dealer manager, who shared the below colour matrix for Ignis.

There are a good number of buyers here who would want a compact car to use on a daily basis. Their convenience matters more than image or styling.

I read about the new Alto K10 and Spresso not selling much nowadays. But on Kerala roads, both are a common sight. MG Comet is picking up in sales and there are even white plate Bajaj Qutes used for personal purposes.
