Yeah, I told them about the issue. They said, saar please don't look at DTE. Rather use the fuel gauge. Didn't bother me much since I hardly check the DTE anyway.

I actually find the DTE consistent. I have faced a similar issue once when the car was kept ON while filling. I never do that but I missed that day. The DTE didn’t update and it took some 50 odd kilometres to update. I haven’t faced any issues after that day and I make sure I turn the car off before filling.

The DTE changes drastically based on driving conditions. When I drive to Kerala it’s 70% highways and I get 16kmpl efficiency. The DTE I see then would drop fast once I exit the highway because the efficiency there is 11kmpl.

My car has run about 22k kms, and the fuel efficiency and DTE are almost accurate.

Just today noticed it! Turned the car off before getting refueled. Afterwards turned it on and saw that the DTE updated right away! Now that i remember, almost every time DTE got updated in the past, i had turned the car off. Too damn hot in our plains of J&K that is why used to leave the car and the AC on while refueling a few times. Now will always try to turn off the car when refueling. Thanks.

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

Folks, the wheel alignment does not stick. Within a couple of months of alignment, and about 2-3k KM, the car starts pulling to one side (to the right in my case). What could be the issue?

34000 kilometres is too early for a suspension to fail. Escalate the issue to Kia India and seek a response as to why the suspension failed and request them to cover it under warranty.

I did escalate this to Kia India. Their response over email and call was unsatisfactory, to say the least. All they were doing was to just forward the same email to the dealership.

I had paid already as I had a trip planned already. But I kept sending emails to Kia. I had requested them to show me where it is mentioned in their extended warranty T&C, that the suspensions are not covered.

Their representatives, the dealership couldn't. After back and forth for a couple of weeks, the dealership agreed to a goodwill warranty replacement. But they needed the old parts and I had already discarded them.

Then there was nothing much to be done from my end. But it has left a very bitter taste in my mouth.

It feels like something is loose and moving around. Initially, I thought it might be a bottle rolling around in the car. Even with the windows closed, the noise persisted.

I took my car to the service center today, and after a test drive, they told me that the issue likely has to do with the suspension. They kept the car for a while, inspected it, and confirmed that the front left suspension was faulty. They provided an estimate for the required repairs after examining the car. The total estimated cost for the repairs comes to around 30K.

It's a 2020 Diesel AT, bought in December probably, and completed 34k KM so far. It is covered under an extended warranty, but the dealership has stated that this particular issue won't be covered by the warranty. So, the entire 30K is be paid out of pocket. And I think 34k KM is too early for suspension failure. And it should be covered under warranty even if it fails.

I'm reaching out to ask whether these parts should be covered by the warranty. Any insights from the experienced members of this forum would be greatly appreciated.

I may be too late to answer this but as long as you have any form of warranty active, default or extended, all suspension related parts are covered upto 80k km of operation under warranty. It is clearly mentioned in what is covered on the warranty page.

Dont pay a single penny if the issue is clearly a faulty unit.

Yeah, it is too late. I had to pay already since I had a trip plan and also discarded the parts. The dealership agreed to goodwill warranty replacement but since they needed the old parts, we reached a dead end.

However, KIA India's response to the whole saga was pathetic. All they did was forward the mail to the dealerships. These was zero customer support from their end in this.

Called customer care all they say is someone will call back.

Looks like the issue is sorted out now. I see data for the latest -1 day. You will be able to view the current data after some specific time interval.

I noticed this last week when I took my car for 30K service and tried to show the issue to the SA.

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

I am 55000 kms down on my Sonet and currently on the same Apollo Alnac 4G tires my Sonet came with from the factory. I think they'll last me another 10-15000 kms more.

Anyone has changed their tires recently? Any particular brand of tires which might offer a more comfortable journey? Open to all suggestions!

You are already past due and 10-15k more would be pushing it. Ideal life of a tyre is between 40-50k and you should change in that period. OEM tyres are mostly hard compound tyres and they hardly wear giving the perception that they still have a long life left. However, with age, tyres tend to get hard and develop cracks - you will hear them making more noise, the ride becomes hard etc. Hence to be on safe side, change them proactively.

For comfort: Michelin > Continental > Bridgestones

Left to right in order of soft to medium hard tyre compounds; soft ones will last 40k or thereabouts.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! My Sonet is a Jan 2022 model and my daily run of approx 100kms racks up the kilometres quickly. But your point of ride getting hard is coinciding with my observation of a "shockerless ride" experience over the past few days. My lower back also concurs with you.

Maybe in another month I'll go in for Michelins for once in my life #SelfLove

Any particular variant in Michelin which you will recommend?

Michelin XM2 or Pimacy 4 could be your best bet provided you are able to lay your hands on those. Start scouting across dealers and look for tyres manufactured in last 6-12 months.

Re: Kia Sonet : Official Review

I agree with @ToThePoint. You should consider changing it soon.

I changed my tyre to Continental UC6 within 24 hrs of delivery of my Sonet in Dec 2022. They are awesome with low road noise and comfortable as well. As far as comfort goes, I would still rate Michelin higher (I had them in my Amaze for 1L kms).

I am not sure you can find good set of Michelins that are manufactured recently. When I searched for them in Bangalore, I could only find the old stock.

My recommendation is to go for tyres manufactured in last 3 months or sooner if possible.
