I have driven the Thar quite some time back in 2021, the brakes felt good. Have to test drive the latest one.

Currently I was offered 1.5 lakhs on the normal body color Thar 4x4 and 1.8 lakhs for the earth Edition. But the problem is they don’t have any vehicle in stock and dealer mentioned they need to invoice before end of this month for these offers to be applicable, if I choose to pay only after the car reaches the dealer stockyard then the offers during that month will be applicable. I strictly follow a rule to never pay without looking at the car allotted to me. I was told the car will have a waiting period of 3-4 weeks for Diesel manual and 1.5 months for Petrol manual.

I am currently reconsidering my buying decision, I don’t really need another car but wanted a weekend fun car. So I am in no hurry.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

I don't know if this question has been answered earlier, a quick search didn't fetch me any results even on the first page.

At stock condition, is there no parking lamps for the Thar that comes ON when we turn the headlamp stalk to the parking ON position? Instead the DRLs dim and no extra lamp glows in the front!

For the Thar, these are literally only for 'parking' purpose and not for driving at dusk just before full headlights are put on? I don't think this was the same with my other cars from Ford, VW etc., they had parking lights (less bright headlamp).

Can somebody confirm.

Update on this one: This progressed quite early. Had to take a detour and drive to MASS. Nearest one was at Reckong Peo. Took an appointment with them in the morning itself, and they told me to bring it in.

They poured in some water on the housing to cool it down so that it can be opened.

Mahindra Thar : Official Review-cooling-down-sensor.jpg

The temperature can be seen after connecting their laptop. Took them around an hour to fix it. These are the DTCs which their laptop reflected.

Mahindra Thar : Official Review-dtc.jpg

After completing it they took it for a test drive for around 5-6 kms at higher RPMs. Then only the E21 error light went away which made me realise that they can reset E22 from their laptop but for E21 the system itself diagnoses it and the solution to it is driving at higher RPMs before it turns to E22, which even the MASS validated.

I still cannot comprehend how these fuel guzzling equipments are helping the environment.
BS6 reduced the average fuel economy for most vehicles, brought in DPF complications for diesels and turbo Petrols anyhow don't give mileage as compared to their diesel peers.

So, how exactly is this helping environment I fail to understand.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Thar doesn't have any parking lamp in the front, so they shouldn't have 'dimmed' the DRL. It is a design flaw.

The same have been implemented for Scorpio-N as well, no parking lamp, switching to parking on light will dim the front drl and rear end lights on

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

I have got a quote for an on road price for Thar 2.0 Petrol LX Hard Top AT RWD for 15.09L.

Is this currently a good price considering all ongoing discounts and offers?

Thank you for the response Shanksta. Received the same discount as you've mentioned. Lucrative deal, I must say.

Hello sir,
I picked up a 2021 mint condition Thar diesel AT, but I’m facing one small issue, when I drive be it at low or high speed, I’m getting this ear-popping sensation/ turbulence / sensation of landing in a flight etc etc

Initially our suspicion was it could be Air leak but it’s not, hence it could be the air extractor or rear glass beading, please help if you suspect any components .
also please share some pictures of your upgraded air extractor

I am spending quality time on this document. LINKED HERE.
Coming up with a plan to deaden the rear extractor/build other buffered acoustic channels to feed the tailgate, and also cut down on reverb when the door is shut.

An excerpt : Current air extractors allow exterior road noise to the cabin, so it is required that the new
prototype reduces or prevents the transmission of sound through the extractor. By preventing
noise transmission, this will enhance the overall perception of vehicle quality.

The extractor on the Thar is poor- just hanging on the rear wheel and swinging your weight on it is enough to get it to rattle obnoxiously. This is compounded when using a wheel cover since it causes random turbulence.

The extractor is right by the outward panel behind the spare wheel mount.
Direct butyl sheet damping is not the solution as it'll cause more issues with air pressure build up as the vent will not do it's job.
Any updates on this one, if you made any changes please, please let us know. Help us all!

AFAIK, Mahindra did change this design in the recent ones. They divided it into two along with a mesh. Don't have the photos yet.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

I have seen quite a few Thars with alloys painted black. I've been thinking about painting my Rocky Beige Thars alloys copper (Rocky Beige is essentially just a light olive green) but I am unable to find a picture of how itl look.

I was wondering if anyone in this thread has painted his alloys anything other than black.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Hello guys

I picked up a used 2021 , 12 k run diesel automatic thar
Unfortunately I’m facing a wind buffeting sensation inside the cabin , got a leak test done
But there was no water leak , the buffeting is causing me serious headaches,
The people at the local Mahindra service center are not getting the sensation , hence they are failing to fix the issue
The problem is serious and the car is undrivable even at low speeds , with windows up
Can someone advise how to fix the issue

The shape of the vehicle is such that you will get wind noise starting from around 50-60 kmph. Play radio or music at moderate level to get over, that is the only solution here. Or see if you can do a complete sound deadening of floor, door and roof.

Can somebody confirm.
It is a standard implementation in most modern cars with DRL (Day time running lights), day time they glow bright in front. On park mode they glow at lesser brightness along with the tail lights that come on. There are no more dedicated park lights as before these days.
