Wow! So this brings the 3-Series lineup ridiculously close to each other. But, what you get are the options of a long-wheelbase version, two great 4-cylinder engines, and now, a ballistic 6-cylinder too. Others have said this earlier too, but BMW is cutting it really close to the 5-Series now.

From itwasntme in the 3-Series LWB review thread.

Price comparo (ex-showroom SRP):

3 Series
330i Sport: ₹42.6L
320d Luxury Line: ₹47.9L
330i M Sport: ₹49.9L

3 Series LWB:
330Li Luxury Line: ₹51.5L
320Ld Luxury Line: ₹52.5L
330Li - M Sport First Edition: ₹53.9L

3 Series M Performance:
M340i xDrive: ₹62.9L

5 Series:
530i Sport: ₹56L
520d Luxury Line: 61.5L
530i M Sport: 61.5L
530d M Sport: 69.1L

Re: BMW M340i xDrive Review

62.9 is a very reasonable price indeed. Now just waiting for the dealer to confirm the service inclusive pricing and the additional warranty !

The M340i x-Drive is for those who just love driving and honestly there are many who will prefer it over a (4cyl) 5 series for the 6cyl petrol. Also the exclusivity of the M340i will take it to the next level which the 5 series can’t just match (530d maybe). Cross shopping will take place between the 3 LWB and 5 series not the M340i.

Soon Audi will also bring in their S5 Sportback, price will be close to the A6 but the target customer is completely different for both. So it doesn’t matter if they are too close to each other. I believe almost 50% of the M340i’s allocated for India must have been already booked just looking at the specs of the car!

Re: BMW M340i xDrive launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

All the production vehicles have been picked up by dealers. Apparently there are hardly a couple which are unsold even with dealers and there is no stock in the factory.

With regards to the pricing I think that the 5 series will move up in price with the face-lift coming up for sure.

Good pricing for the 340i, but that 530D MSport still remains the pick of the BMW range IMHO!

Excellent Pricing BMW nailed it. All they have to do now is to keep it in stock.
I am sure the Audi will also be forced to to keep the price of S5 in check.

530D Comfort, Space, practicality and strong performance is a tough combo to beat. As mentioned above 340i is for those who value driving over all else. For someone looking at a more rounded car as a whole, the 530D is still a terrific choice.

Good pricing, even dealers were expecting 64L ex-showroom.

True. In my desperate attempts to check on Black colour, I missed prebooking this and BMW as well as dealers asked to register interest. Hopefully that means more cars are coming despite the initial news of only 40 cars to be made.
Waiting for Karan to post pics of his blue baby.

Before we get Mod's reaction , let me just confirm that there are no more 530-D left at plant or with most dealers across the country. Face-lift one should come around April end/ May and will definitely be at a higher price level.

So, let's keep the discussions relating to M340i here for the time being.

People who are looking to buy, should definitely leave their numbers with dealership/ webpage, there will be some cancellations/ extra booking by dealers. Based on this initial response, am sure BMW India will bring more kits.

Re: BMW M340i xDrive launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

From what I have heard the next production batch is planned for June-July and hence the company wants dealers to register interests and bookings in this month. That batch could be higher priced and maybe with different specs in terms of colours and trims.

The pricing is very good. People who were in the market to buy a car with focus on performance and had the budget have got it good. As stated earlier the limited number of cars have gone too soon. I am afraid that the next batch will come with some substantial price raise.

Re: BMW M340i xDrive launched at Rs. 62.90 lakh

Great pricing! For a car that nears M-figures on performance, this is a very reasonable price indeed! Heck, the Mercedes A35 AMG sedan, which is fully a class below and with much lower power and coming with a 4-pot, is expected to be priced close to 60 lakhs! BMW has certainly set the cat among the pigeons when it comes to performance car buyers!

However, I am puzzled as to why they have not offered a M540i in India yet. Priced around the same level as a 530D, that would make a great choice for someone who want it all - luxury sedan comfort, space and prestige, sports sedan performance and a reasonable price to boot! Although 530D is such a great machine, Diesel is just not fashionable anymore and increasingly passé' in this segment, with an uncertain future too.

What is also pleasantly surprising is the is the 11.89 KPL mileage quoted on the spec sheet. BMW quoted mileage tends to be close to reality for mixed 60-40 Highway/City driving. This is a very good fuel efficiency indeed for a AWD car with a 3L 6-pot engine.

End of the day, the straight 6 petrol's are the best engines BMW ever made, and turbo charging has only made them all the better - so whoever can, grab a piece of this classic before the days of fossil fuel cars come to an abrupt end

The pricing is spot on, but I dont think the AMG A35 will be a rival to this one. Mercedes will surely launch the locally assembled C43 Coupe and that with 391 horsepower will be a direct rival to the M 340i. Expecting the price to be in the ball park of the BMW after CKD pricing.
