Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Guys, keep an eye on Ebay for Jimny accessories. I can see many awesome upgrades coming straight from Japan and around the world, bit costly but surely will command quality. Its a paradise for whose who wish quality upgrades on this amazing car.

Ecosystem for Jimny is very well developed and can expect OEM finish for armrests, led conversion kits, interior accessories etc. Jimny is an amazing canvas and mod friendly for all those who are looking for quality fit and finish.

As a Thar owner, this is something which we all miss!

Fortunately, I had another booking with Vipul Motors. They were prompt, far more attentive, and customer-oriented than Rohan. The Nexa Blue turned out to be better than what I anticipated
Congratulations!! I was there at Vipul Motors cheering when the 'keys' of the Jimny were handed over to you. Your ride looked stunning !
I went there to check out the white Jimny on display which looked quite good with body graphics.

Heck, I own a liter class bike in India. What sense does THAT make?
Cheers and enjoy your Jimnys guys!
Off topic reply but had to.

It makes every sense for you to own a litre class in India, especially if you are from Gurgaon. Take it to the track man. You will somehow see that your litre class is out of breath at the end of the back straight when a V4S passes you buy. (Assuming you dont own a V4)

Coming back to the Jimny- no matter the prices it a better car all round than the competition

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

@shankar.balan : Your short review is absolutely crisp and gives a clear perspective from the driver's point of view. Thanks.
And with experience that you have from the Gypsy and Thar, its clear when you say that Jimny is spirited, has great legacy, built well, and delivers when we know to drive it sensibly !

This Guy is going to take Jimny to Sach Pass in this vlog series...In this first part of the series he tells about Highway Performance and Mileage(Plains) at an avg. speed of 80Kmph gives 15+ KMPL... Also he explains the working of 4 speed AT properly...waiting for next part of the series to see Jimny at Sach Pass in the snow !!

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Test drove the Jimny Alpha AT version at the Nexa outlet at RR Nagar, Bangalore:

Coming from a completely different car, the Tiago JTP, below are my observations:

Pros:

1. Stable ride quality upto 80km/hr. Floats over potholes.

2. Quiet cabin with minimal NVH. Gets a tad loud post 80 km/hr

3. Good field of view in the front

4. Decent AT for people who are not worried about speed

5. Decent headroom and legroom (I'm 5'11)

Cons:

1. Rear visibility is poor with the Stepney

2. Build up of speed is in a linear manner. Is a dampener for people used to turbo charged engines.

3. Average music system. The rear speaker was already jarring.

I'm planning to go ahead with the booking I made in March.

Thanks for the photo and the update, I don't have these. I assumed it was not provided, looks like my dealer messed up. I will get this fixed from him. Also, I didn't get an owner's manual or service guidelines, is this supposed to be a soft copy now?

This means Jimny will be in 3rd gear always if Overdrive is off?

Really?

And his explanation of L and 2 where he says in L car will be in 1st gear always & in 2 car will toggle between 1 and 2n depending on the requirement, and I used to think 2 is for a direct start in 2nd.

What's this going on?

Yup what he says is right. 3 gears without overdrive and you need to switch on overdrive if you want 4th.

You're so polite.
That looks like pure handmade, er.... something.

I have seen this being done to thars, fortuners, even Endys. It always reminded me of this:

Hard copy of Owner’s Manual is not given. You can download from MS site. It will include service schedule/guidelines.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

And what about the talk about L and 2 ? Am sure that can’t be correct and exclusive to Jimny?
