I am using the GAN in my Zeta AT for over 5k kms now. This includes a Zanskar and Ladakh trip as well. Generally it takes around 80-100 km to adapt to the car.

This has definitely improved the low and mid. Ideally this is how the Automatic should come as. That inherent resistance experienced in AT is no longer there. And yes it does feel a bit more refined as well during that low to mid rpms compared to stock. Mileage is definitely better than the stock form considering all the more heavy foot driving i have been into after GAN.

I tried a Windbooster from a friend before this. Never liked it, specially the sporadic increase in rpms.

For multiple non turbo cars ownership use case this definitely a vfm product.

So it's pretty much a 'take our word for it' scenario? A lot of money for unsubstantiated and potentially placebo benefits.

The Nexa dealer has a red Jimny which I want. I took a short test drive and have a few questions -

1. The odometer shows that this particular car was driven for 114 kms. The dealer says that it is a showroom display car and has not been used for demo purpose. They said all new cars are driven for 50-60 kms for testing. The rest accumulated due to transit from the unloading yard to the dealership. Is this the case for all new cars ?

2. On pressing them; it was found out that the car was dispatched from the manufacturing plant on 31st January 2024. The dealer says that the manufacturing date and the dispatch date are one and the same. Is this logical?

3. I insisted for test drive in this car and they begrudgingly agreed since no other Jimnys were available. Everything went on smoothly. But the vibration of the gear lever is what concerned me. Is it natural in Jimnys ?

4. On completing the TD for about 5 kms, we opened the bonnet to have a look inside. While opening it, I was surprised that the bonnet was warmer than most cars would be. Our 12 year I10 doesn't heat up that much. Is it because there are no insulation pads on the bonnet of the Jimny or is it that this engine just runs hot ?

5. One thing that irked me is that this car was already furnished with all the plastic trims, floor carpet, door visors, seat covers, premium spare tyre cover and all. Why should a new car be decked like that. What if a customer does not want to avail those accessories ? Does it mean that this particular car is actually their demo car ?

6. Do I have scope to bargain here. Considering the odo reading, manufacturing date and my suspicions ?

Finally our much awaited 'Suzu' comes home !

After a gruelling negotiation battle with the dealer, the deal was made. The dealer waved the white flag when they realized I was not going to budge.

I gave them very little choice. Either get me a fresh car or sell me the dubious one with all the trims installed. But I was not going to pay a single penny for the accessories.

In the meantime I had arranged all necessary funding to lure them. They literally requested me to at least consider purchasing the seat covers and the floor carpet. Rest all plastic tid-bits were free of cost. I asked them to remove the spare wheel cover which has a chrome ring around it. I don't think it's worth 12k.
Eventually I agreed and the total discount came to 2.80L. Wish I had taken the decision to get the Jimny in the month of July.

You can see my son dancing around the car. His joy and excitement filled the showroom. Diwali does bring happiness indeed.

The delivery experience was impromptu since the dealer called late in the afternoon to confirm the price. Since it was end of the month and the eve of Diwali; they asked us to take the car home.
I consulted my better half and surprisingly everyone at home agreed. We had to rush to the showroom at 5:30 in the evening and had to be there till 8 pm. The paper work and generation of temporary registration took a long time.

After multiple cups of tea and coffee, we were finally called for the ceremony. Holding that big cardboard key is special. No matter how many times you have done it.

Months of planning, research, YouTube videos and team bhp forum info came to a conclusion within a matter of few hours. The Jimny was mine !

Out of excitement and overwhelming sense of fulfillment; I completely forgot to do the last PDI. However, I had regained composure and utilized the time we spent waiting in the lobby to take a close look at the fit and finish of the accessories.

A few niggles were spotted. I immediately brought it to their notice. The mud flaps had screws missing and the plastic garnish on the door was not stuck on properly. They also missed to put on the trims on the rear fender but had billed me for them.

At last we exchanged Diwali sweets with the Nexa executives and drove away happily.

All in all, the experience was good enough. Anyways 'all's well that ends well'.

We are so glad that Maruti has brought an international best-seller for us exactly as it is but in a much more practical form.

I don't see any downgrades for the Indian version in terms of features or quality parameters.

Since I am now a proud owner of a Jimny Alpha MT; I can say for sure that it is a head-turner. The apprehension and hesitation to own a Jimny was majorly created by the online content creators.
The unfair comparison with the Thar and the Gurkha was the ripple effect of some youtuber's overactive imagination. It just went downhill from there. Same story like Nano vs Alto.

I am now enjoying the attention of random people who actually walk upto my Jimny to ask those stereotypical questions. But I am getting the attention nonetheless.

Whereas Thar owners are slowly but surely being branded as nuisance on Indian roads by the general population. The image is so. Just like KTM bikes. Size and bulk matters on crowded Indian roads. The one who gets stuck in traffic or in bylanes will know !!

Just my two cents in defence of the Jimny.

Maruti Jimny Review-screenshot.jpeg

I recently saw a service bulletin shared by jimny.gang.india on their Instagram, detailing a modification to the kingpin assembly design to address a common issue—vibrations in the steering wheel when braking at around 80 km/h.

What I'm unclear about is whether this counts as an official recall, or if owners experiencing this issue can request a free replacement. Or is it simply a design improvement applied to newer Jimny models going forward?

Also, I wonder if they’ll tackle the transmission shaft issue, where it rubs against the car's underbelly.

Hi

I was looking for the spare wheel cover for my Jimny and liked the one you have posted. Can you please let me know where you purchased this and price.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Guys, help me find a good set of mats for the Jimny. I am not able to source good ones from the internet. About the ones that were recommended earlier in this thread (Delhi based guy), someone posted negative reviews and pictures. I also ordered GFX from Amazon and they never reached me (asked for a refund). I have driven 1200kms without mats now. Help!

I’m using the mats from TPE car mats - 9999391520. Shivam Goel is the person. Not sure if you are referring to my recommendation earlier but I have heard positive reviews from everyone who sits in the car even the service center folks. Very happy with the quality. 2300 plus shipping.

Yes that is the one. Someone in the forum posted pictures and a negative feedback. That stopped me from getting these. Meanwhile, Amazon has issued a refund for the GFX mats I ordered and I just got a text from DTDC saying they will deliver it today.

I guess I will just reject the delivery.

GFX mats are always in short supply.
Contact Zapcart who sells GFX mats. You can call them to check availability. Located in Paschim Vihar.
The quality & fitting is excellent. The genuine accessory mats sold by Maruti dealer are useless especially the driver side. It does not fully cover the floor & does not get properly fitted.
I am using GFX mats for Jimny, Rumion & Legender. Fully satisfied.

My mat buying saga continues. Never knew buying mats could be this difficult.

I had ordered some nice GFX mats from Amazon almost 2 weeks back and they never reached me until today. The delivery date initially kept getting postpone and thereafter kept showing out for delivery but since it was being delivered by DTDC, tracking the package was not that straight forward. Once it even said 'package lost'. Anyway, I called Amazon and cancelled the delivery yesterday. However, the mats landed up at my doorstep today afternoon. I had to deny delivery because Amazon had already processed my refund.

Now part 2 of the story.

After I saw Jimnylife's post, I went ahead (despite some inhibitions) and ordered these mats. Shivam was prompt to answer all questions and sent me the mats immediately. He also explained what was the issue with the other bhpian who had posted a negative review about his mats. I bought his explanation. Cost = INR 2500 + INR 340 (porter charges). He agreed to take 50% and remaining later once I am satisfied. I received the mats - looked good overall. Transferred the balance 50% (full payment is made).

Then he asks me to send pictures. This is when I realise the mats are far from perfect. Whenever I slide the front seats all the way back, the rear mats get stuck and come off completely. Looks like a design flaw to me. I tried everything but could not position the mats in a way that they dont get stuck when you slide the seats back. Even the slightest movement in the front seat is dislodging the rear mats.

Now, Shivam has asked me to send a video in the morning which I will do. And he has assured me that he will resolve the problem. So lets see. Will keep you all posted.

Dear Jimnylife - do check if you have the same problem. Slide your front seat all the way back. I hope I am doing something wrong and its not a design issue. But I have tried everything and the issue persists.

Dear Sir, I went and pulled my driver seat all the way back, I have attached the photo, the rear mat is clear of the front seat and is not touching anywhere.Maruti Jimny Review-whatsapp-image-20241105-8.50.34-pm.jpeg

Regarding the front passenger seat, if I pull it back completely, I observed it does graze past the top left corner of the rear mat. But the rear mat does not move from its position at all even if it is grazing slightly. I tried multiple times but the rear mat did not move from its position at all.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hello,
I own a July 2023 Jimny Alpha AT which is run 16k. Have done a Spiti trip from Pune this September. During this 4700km roundtrip, I observed that the rear seat is not comfortable for very long drives. Has anyone modified rear seats to add thigh support and any other mods to make it more comfortable? I would be happy if there are garages in Pune who can do the mods. Thanks for your replies in advance.

Friends,

Is there a way to remove the fuel economy display from home screen of the ICE?
Always seeing such terrible numbers mars the experience.
