5. One thing that irked me is that this car was already furnished with all the plastic trims, floor carpet, door visors, seat covers, premium spare tyre cover and all. Why should a new car be decked like that. What if a customer does not want to avail those accessories ? Does it mean that this particular car is actually their demo car ?

6. Do I have scope to bargain here. Considering the odo reading, manufacturing date and my suspicions ?
The showroom display cars were fully kitted during the Thunder Edition times. Nothing suspicious there. All other points you have mentioned are pretty normal.
On the odometer there is a screen to check total driving time. That should give you an idea how long the engine was kept running.

You should definitely negotiate for a good discount on the car. Ask for 3.5 to 4L discount.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

I checked out the Jimny on Sunday in a nearby NEXA showroom. Didn't drive it around, just a dekko and here's what I noticed about the interiors:
1. The front seat seems to be set on the lower side, and there's no driver height adjust!
2. The thigh support on rear seat is on the lower side. Not sure how much comfortable it would be for tall passengers on long drives.

For the record, I'm 5'9".

Maruti Jimny mileage

Latest mileage figure I have seen over 330km ( 90%highway, 10% bumper to bumper) was 22.3 kmpl. With fifteen litres of petrol I could do 330kms.

Do try the Tank full to Tank full method and let us know the actual figure. It shouldn’t be way off but the car certainly displays a bit more mileage than it actually is.

Previous trip was done with full tank to tank method and returned 21.7 kmpl. But I suspect 6% speedometer error Or 20kms difference.

At 60-70 speeds on highway - it may be possible to get 20+ FE. But Wil be damn boring. I got 17+ with CC set to 80kmph.

Can say 75Kmph for this trip with Jimny. I am used to driving at 80 kmph speeds on all my cars.

It’s a dream to own a Jimny. It reminds me of my Tata Nano which I had to scrap. I used to enjoy driving Nano 800kms trips with my wife, daughter and 2 dogs at 80 kmph.

1700KM UPDATE
After planning for a long time, here is an update about our Jimny! For the first service, I visited Suraksha Nexa Service on Kanakapura Road, which had just opened. Since it was newly opened, there was only one or two cars there, so the Jimny received all the attention, and everyone was delighted to see it in Kinetic Yellow. Underbody coating was applied to prevent rusting, and we installed illuminated door sills because they were just too tempting to pass!

After the first service of 700 km, the Jimny was ready to go on a long journey, which turned out to be quite lengthy for the new car. Anyway, the route was planned from Bengaluru to Chikmagaluru, then to Manipal, and back to Bengaluru via Chikmagaluru. Just after arriving in Chikmagaluru, the Jimny hit its first milestone: a memorable 1000 km! We pulled over to take a photo, and fortunately, there was a lake beside the road, making the shot even more picturesque.

The first milestone!

Photo after a thousand KM together.

The ride was comfortable, even with four people and four backpacks in the boot. The car cruised smoothly at 100 km/h. However, the engine noise gets a bit loud as it approaches 120 km/h, and it’s not a vehicle for insane speeds, so that’s not a concern. I noticed that the steering requires continuous correction when navigating curves at triple-digit speeds. The AC is powerful, but I prefer to set the temperature manually, as the auto climate control tends to make the cabin too cold for my liking. The suspension handles potholes and uneven patches well, but you do get tossed side to side if you go too slowly, which is often the case. The brakes take some getting used to, as they aren’t very effective.

On the way back from Manipal, the Agumbe Ghats were typical of Bengaluru traffic, and we experienced a strange incident where I nearly bumped into the car in front of me.

I took a photo in Manipal and set it as my wallpaper right away!

After a fun trip of 970 km over three days, the car has now clocked around 1700 km. It picked up quite a few bugs in the grill, earning the nickname "Buggy the Bug Eater!"

Love for Jimny. Presented it with GAN-GA Performance Tuner.

Well, this is my first post on teambhp. I had always been a fan of electric vehicles and had all my eyes set for having an electric vehicle as my first car. It all started a decade-and-a-half ago when I set foot in Bengaluru and I could see 100s of Reva cars plying on erstwhile Bangalore roads. Though much smaller than a auto-rikshaw, yet can accommodate 4 with just 2 doors. For a city commute of 60Km/charge/day it made sense. Later Mahindra took over Reva's operations got it converted to E2O with some design cues from DC(Dilip Chabria) and made it 4 door if I am not wrong and realistic range around ~80Km/charge. I was looking for a small EV car which is good enough for city, accommodate 2 adults and easy to drive(no gear shifting) and at the same time should drive min 400KM/Charge to my home town.

Later came bunch of EVs from Hyundai, Tata, MG which took industry by storm not just in terms of range but also in terms of performance. pure torque through out the rev band and pin-drop silence inside cabin had all my ears ringing.

For my pure love of EV - Pure love because it is pure-energy at disposal, I also had vague copy-cat thought of creating altogether another forum by domain teamkw.co.in just to make teambhp sound lame as kw(read electric power) is what is going to be the future than bhp(fossil power).

All the while I kept postponing buying EV till I get a car in the market with a realistic range of 500Km/charge which ment higher battery rating in Ah which translates in to large battery packs which essentially meant car to be big too to accommodate the larger battery pack. when it comes to EV it is better to pick lesser of the evils(not to mention fire mis-haps associated with fast charging)

It seems fate had other plans for me when my love for EV took a beating when i saw this little but tall, cute but capable jimny doing rounds in Bengaluru. Though bigger than Reva but stilla 4-seater. It is like that thunderbolt moment as in "God Father" novel. Got struck by it the more I saw it. My fiddling to have a EV car gradually took beating but not enough to trudge me in to the path of laying my hands on Jimny as it was not budget friendly.

Then came the offers in July'24 for Jimny to the tune of 3.5L which finally drove the last nail into my EV-car-owing-dream's coffin.

Have driven Zeta-AT variant ~3900Kms in a matter of around 3 months. Dare I say that am in love with the car. I can't express it but can feel it.

To the extent that my love towards the car have further driven me to get her some necessary embellishments(read what it lacks) which it requires.

Got Gan-Ga tuner imported to India from Germany(https://www.gantuning.com). I didn't opt for throttle controller as I felt Tuner which promises improvement both in Hp and Nm to be a better deal-breaker than throttle controller with cost for both coming in the same ball-bark region of 18K to 20K. I got the tuner for around 23K including customs+gst.

Will Post a review about GAN-GA's impact on Jimny's performance after driving the car for ~120KM since its installation. what I can say right away since I have driven around couple of KMs since installation is that it does seem to improve throttle response. But mid-band power delivery improvement is yet to be ascertained and I have to take it on good free stretches.

As closing comment I am leaving with a video link of GAN-GA installation in Jimny . Forgive for bad video quality and inaudible commentary.

P.S. I had planned to install LED cabin lights, gan-ga tuner, Grill Lights on the same day. While replacing ceiling LED light(DOME light in Suzuki's Manual) it got shorted inspite of key being removed. I bit my tongue for purchasing a cheap LED available in Amazon which resulted in this. Downside of the blown dome fuse(number 16 and 17) is that remote locking/un-locking stopped working and power was not available on ODB-2 Port. After replacing 10A spare fuse in Fuse-No-17. Got all 3 working.

Welcome from another newbie!

Really interested in hearing more about your experience with GAN-GA.

I am looking to buy either that or a throttle controller for my Jimny. GAN claims +12HP and 10% fuel savings. I am putting on bigger tires and have a lot of other mods planned so higher HP sounds better than using a throttle controller.

I am in the UK so I can buy both for about the same price.

Generally what is promised is not what we get. Even if we get improvement in Power and Torque not sure in which revv-band. I will mail to gangatuning support team to share testing graph if any for Jimny. I am yet to drive the vehicle for more than 120KM since its installation so not in a position to comment. Will post a review after clocking enough miles.

Most of the time these tuning companies play with our perception of performance. Kinda Placebo Effect. A proper Dyno Testing with and without tuner will bringout the reality in numbers.
