The crack on my Safari's rear led light bar seems to be a manufacturing issue since there were no signs of being hit from behind. I had raised this concern with the Tata ASS and they have agreed to replace it under warranty. The replacement part has arrived but I haven't had the time to get it replaced. In any case, the crack is rather minor and does not affect functionality.

I had earlier also gotten the led light bar replaced under warranty (the first one had moisture issues) and remember the cost mentioned on the invoice was around 14K.

You should push for replacement under warranty if your crack has appeared randomly and not because of a rear impact.

Anyone has any updated on when the "lane keep assist" feature will be enabled on our cars? I asked the dealer a couple of times but they have no clue.
Still no update on the above from the Tata ASS. Surprising considering that it has been more than 6 months since the facelift was launched. I understand from the Tata ASS that a new software version is expected next month. Hopefully that should enable the lane keep assist as well.

Normally there would be like a payment of 10k or 25k for booking. Balance after PDI. In my case, there was no payment being made. They honoured my booking at my word and got the car. Then after PDI did the final payment along with the loan processing.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you've faced with the Altroz. Software is just one aspect of the equation. What also matters is the exceptional safety, comfort and quality that come with the Tata Safari. As an Indian brand, it stands well with luxury SUVs, offering a premium experience without the premium price tag hence why I would call it a VFM MPV/FWD SUV/Big Crossover. Since the latest software update two months ago, I've encountered no issues at all with my software! Before that, I had to restart the system every other day. However with my Nexon, I had to fight with the SC for 2 months straight to get my Head unit replaced; this was a longstanding issue I had reported during my service visits. It was only after escalating the matter that I received a complimentary replacement despite being out of warranty and since then 'VIP' treatment too. This isn't the same dealer I got my Safari from though.

Ultimately my point is, congratulating someone for ‘wasting’ their money, whether on ‘bloated software’ or otherwise, is unnecessary and unkind. We all value different features and benefits in our purchases.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Hello,

I am here to share a dangerous encounter we had with the safari due to poor design.

My dad was driving while my mom and I were sitting in the car. On a signal, I hear the powered tailgate opening, I was confused and rather scared because it was a crowded signal. My dad didn't even realise the boot had opened, but I quickly closed it from the button on the touch panel (stretched my hand from the middle row).

I was just wondering how did the tailgate suddenly open and realised that my dad was adjusting the AC vents, and his pinky finger or palm touched the boot open button on the touch panel.

Luckily there was no bike or auto behind us, otherwise it would have probably hit them, causing a ruckus on the road. There was a tempo, luckily he had kept safe distance and it did not hit him.

But I realised the poor placement of the boot open button on the touch panel which is right under the AC vents, anyone adjusting them can click any button on the panel there. If I wasn't there , probably my parents wouldn't realise the tailgate is open until the car moved and warned them. These are the small things which I feel tata lacks in customer experience. Rather than that, it's a basic design issue.

That's like the rear of an AN225 opening while flying high altitude to deploy tanks on the ground. The pilot flicks a switch and voila, off they go along with para trooopers!

The same thing happened today when my sister was adjusting the AC vents. In my absence, my dad did not know how to close it, and he had to park the car on the side and close it through the button on the tailgate.

I feel tata should provide a software update so that the tailgate touch requires double/triple tap to open it.

This seems like a really crazy imagination, I believe it would be a great scene in a Tom Cruise movie

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Has anyone installed the new software update (version 14.18) for the infotainment system? If yes, what are the updates?

I have noticed at times my AC control panel gets stuck or behaves erratically. The TATA ASS called saying that the aforesaid software update is out and should help with the above issue.

Best,
Enigmatic

I have recently updated to the 14.18 release and lane change issue has been resolved i.e. it doesn't bring you to Drive Assist menu everytime, but the software is still very patchy. Driver Seatbelt Warning no longer works, TPMS issue crops up everyday for a different tire...

Oh man, its always one step forward and two steps backward with these software updates. While I appreciate how proactive Tata is with rolling out these updates, cannot understand why they can't release a more polished version.

What is the seatbelt warning issue that you are facing in the new software version?

Regarding TPMS, I have seen the TPMS failure warning flash a couple of times in my 3 months of ownership but nothing more.

Best,
Enigmatic

The whole issue is that there is no Seat Belt Warning for the Driver in the new release. All the passengers get a Seat Belt Warning but the driver does not. I wonder in the case of any accident if the Air Bags for the driver will deploy or not as they are linked to Seat Belts

This definitely is concerning

Now I am wondering whether to go ahead with this update or wait for the next one.

Lane Assist is not yet enabled. Earlier when you crossed 55-60 kmph drive assist used to activate and the display in MID behind steering used to shift to drive assist irrespective of what it was on earlier and you had to change it using menu button everytime.
