Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

All,

Is it advisable in a diesel engine to get the engine oil, other fluids and filters changed prior to the first service (which is due at 15,000 KMs or 1 year, whichever is earlier)?

My Safari is at 2,000 KMs and about 2 months old. It get's used daily for short city commutes and has seen 2 highway runs in the past 2 months. In my mind, a new engine would degrade the engine oil sooner than an engine which is a bit aged. Accordingly, I am inclined on getting the above service done when the Safari turns 6 month old.

Does it make sense or am I getting unnecessarily paranoid?

Best,
Enigmatic

In all honesty, it does not warrant to change the engine oil during first service. Safari comes with synthetic oil and it doesn't degrade that soon because of the viscosity. Having said that if you really wish to change it, you can go ahead and change, it shouldn't be an issue.

Are you sure about the service period? I've never owned a TATA car, but a first service after 1 year or 15000 kms seems unusual. Generally, the first service is after 1-2 months of purchase or after 1000-2000 kms.

Having owned a few cars from different manufacturers, the first service has always been a general inspection, with no major activity undertaken. They just check for loose panels, mounts, leaks etc. The first real service activity (third in case of Safari) at 15000km is a reasonable one. With modern engines, engine wear is fairly limited. Changing to a new oil too soon may impede the bedding in of fine clearance parts, no major issues in doing that though. No need to be excessively worried, enjoy your ownership and have faith in the manufacturer specified specs and service schedules.

  • First service is after 2 months of purchase or 2000kms whichever is earlier.
  • Second service is at 6 months after purchase or 7500 kms, whichever is earlier.
  • Thereafter, every service is at 6 months interval or 7500kms whichever is earlier
  • Al of this is mentioned in the owners manual, pls check.
You are right on the engine oil, owners manual says that it will be changed every 15K kms or 12 months (after the 1st change in 1.5 years). This is inline with our other car, Hyundai Diesel. So not sure if it is a matter of concern as it seems at least 2 manufacturers are following the same.

Hi, Team-BHP community, I'm Aashrith from Vizag.

I got the Safari facelift when it launched in Star Dust Ash colour in December. Loved the design and visualised it in a different colour scheme since its reveal and wanted to get it wrapped. People from CERAMIC PRO VIZAG and wrap magician Asif from SQUEEJEEZ made it possible - big shout to them.

Late to post but probably the first wrapped Safari facelift in India. Really wanted to share it with the community and all Safari lovers.

Here is the list of things that were done:
  1. Wrap colour: Satin Nero Pearl
  2. PPF on all glossy areas exterior/interior and front/ rear lights.
  3. Interior Flooring and foot mats from 3d Frontline.
  4. Callipers painted in burnt copper.
  5. Diamond cut alloy design wrapped in matted black.
  6. All windows and front/rear windshields are tinted.
  7. F1 number plate.
  8. Dual trumpet horn from HELLA.
  9. Wrapped the LED bar in the centre with black PPF.

Re: 2023 Tata Safari Facelift Review

Got to admit, that is beautiful work done on the car. The matt black looks outstanding on the Safari along with the tinted windows and painted calipers.
Even I am dreaming of getting the glass tinted and painting the calipers red of my White DT (Black roof with tinted windows is just something I've always wanted).

But my dad is a bit hesitant to get the windows tinted due to traffic police stopping us everytime and asking for bribes to let us go, and painting the calipers because it might affect insurance claims and warranty.

Boy, doesn't it look fantastic and ravishing?
Wow, a head-turner for sure.
Even the Dark edition looks pale when compared.

Maybe TATA can think of providing matte options similar to KIAs.

It seems the vehicle is in Vizag and since it is a hot coastal area and summer is grueling hot, how are you managing the heat?

I'm just smittened by the exemplary work done on this sexy looking car. Is it just me or is it for everyone's eyes the cars creases looking to show more prominently on this satin matte wrap? Damn, now if at all i get a chance to buy the Safari, I'll plan something similar in the matte shade.

Looks absolutely sick man! The satin wrap, the black rims, red callipers and Tata's futuristic design all fits in really well. Tata's current design langauge is hit or miss but you've really dialed the looks in with your mods, good choice.

I was also thinking of getting my car's callipers painted, but why do you think that will affect warranty? Something to do with the dismantling/assembly?

I don't think that painting calipers affects the warranty, I had asked the folks at Tata dealerships and ASS. They said it doesn't.

But yes, insurance companies want an excuse to reject the claims, it will definitely cause a problem in case of an accident.

How much did tail light replacement cost for you ? I see similar crack on my safari. What caused your tail light to crack ?

While the car undoubtedly looks stunning, is that number plate legal?
If not, are we condoning it and allowing a post that goes against RTO rules and regulations?

Hello All,

Anyone has any updated on when the "lane keep assist" feature will be enabled on our cars? I asked the dealer a couple of times but they have no clue.

I would say let it pass because that car deserves all the attention! After all, when there’s a price tag, everything is legal - it’s ‘fine’ in both senses.

In Kerala, wrapping a vehicle is not legally recognized. Even if you have the papers from the RTO, the MVD doesn’t consider a wrap as valid. If you’re looking to change the color of your car, painting is the only legal method. So why make F1 plates an issue?
