What is wrong with those door handles? They are simpler and more functional than the Curvv door handles. Also, Thar Roxx, Thar 3D, and Jimny all have similar door handles if I am not wrong. Commonly, people's perception changes with brand image. The same door handles on a BMW won't create a cheap feeling, but it's an issue on a Citroen.

I don't like them. Neither on a Citroen nor on a BMW. Please try to understand the purpose of a public forum. No need to get so worked up trying to defend a manufacturer by quoting examples from all sorts of segments and price brackets.

Soon we will have people commenting "So what? Doesn't a BMW break down?" in Tata threads. Any way, let's not invite unnecessary moderator action. I will end this here.

The new Thar has it, no complaints there

I hate these type door handles. However, India is a very weird market. On one side you had the likes of Renault Logan, Toyota Etios Twins which flopped miserably. On the other side, people had absolutely no problem with Duster and Thar.

Functionally they work, and sit flush with the bodywork. With the Basalt it works as it doesn't break the design.

Cruise control is something they should have given, as with ever improving infra it becomes a boon. Point to be noted is that it doesn't improve FE if you have road with lot of gradient changes. It's more of a fatigue reduction feature.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

I think it is high time to create a separate thread for Citroën and Flappy door handles
You go to c3 thread, basalt thread or aircross thread you get to see the same messages.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

Looking at the car in flesh, I feel that the prices for all variants except the base variant are not justifying.
The quality of materials in the interior are not upto standards for something priced over 15L.
For this price range, sedans like Honda City and Hyundai Verna offer great value.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

I will wait and see if either Basalt or C3 Aircross find their way into the used car market. Subject to them announcing a good safety rating.

Also, not giving a split rear seat in either Basalt or C3 Aircross (5 seater) is a big miss. I would anyday take it over say a sunroof which is useless in South India.

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

Is there a feature comparison across different variants? Their website or brochure doesn't provide a table listing the features across variants like how we typically see with other car models.

Please share a link if available. Thanks.

There's this YouTube channel V3Cars who have a 'Variants explained' post on every new car as soon as they are released..Do check out their channel. It must be there.

Here's the link

This is just depressing.
I was looking forward to checking it out at a showroom but with those OTR prices, the ATs are just plain out of my budget.
I am genuinely starting to despise the insane taxation the middle class is subjected to. Nearly 3 lakhs for registration, only for me to pay toll on any decently maintained road and 100s of rupees to the Corporation and malls for parking.

It is off topic, but yes, there is no escaping the taxes and it can only get worse in the future. The OTR price in Chennai is roughly 25% above the Ex show room price for cars costing 10L and above.
Having said that please don't simply look at the final price in the pricelist and get disheartened. In this example, if you consider MAX 1.2P T 6AT DT variant, you can discount the TCS of 13.8K because you will get it back when you file the IT returns for the FY 2024. You can refuse basic accessories and also not opt for extended warranty. These 2 add to around 37K. The quoted insurance is clearly inflated and you can bring it down by 20K if you take the insurance directly and not through the dealer. I also see the road tax inflated by around 19K, which you can negotiate with the dealer.
So, if you add all these numbers, the OTR price can come down easily by 80-90k for the AT variants. And that's before the year end discounts kick in!
Happy motoring!

Re: Citroen Basalt Review

I had a chance to check out the vehicle this weekend. I'm disappointed with the car's feel. The materials, fit, and finish seem average at best. Perhaps the base variant is the only real option, as the rest are overpriced for what they offer.

This segment has countless other options. I wish this weren't the case, I had high expectations, but unfortunately, I'll continue my search for my next purchase.
