Not sure how they have communicated carplay timelines as Feb 25 when in the public domain (brochure) they have clearly articulated that MX3 will not support apple carplay. Sharing latest screenshot of brochure.

At the time of taking delivery of my MX3, I was shown an e-mail correspondence where it said "decision to be taken shortly" on Apple CarPlay for MX series and subsequently a customer service person said it is "tentatively" being planned for Feb '25. I haven't been explicitly told it won't be available. Lets wait and see.

Any BHPian who got Deep Forest colour delivered? I booked this colour and the dealer is not able to share pics of Deep Forest colour car delivered - only one delivery so far from their outlet. I want to see the pics from owners to get a better appreciation of the colour.

:Frustrati The brochure also specifies that the company reserves the right to alter any specification without any prior notice.

I guess the MX3 owners shouldve kept it under wraps how happy we lot were. Anand Mahindra read it and was like, nope can't let that happen.

Can someone tell me if this is a hardware limitation or if we flash MX5 software update on MX3 will solve the problem?

Also, if I buy MX5 or AX7L HU from someone who is installing a bigger screen, will Mahindra update it with the relevant software during the service or will they refuse it and call it an aftermarket screen? Does anyone have an experience with this issue in the past?

Some of our forum members have Deep Forest Thar Roxx or have seen it in a showroom.

I go this SMS from Mahindra:

Hi Hemant, Thar ROXX is here to set a new standard. Our team will reach out to share more information about 'THE' SUV. Team Mahindra.
Anyone else got this? Any idea what it means?

Views on the Thar Roxx from a Maruti Jimny owner.

Firstly I want to thank Royal Motors, Kolkata for providing me with a pretty long test drive. The car I drove was a diesel manual, 2WD.

Few observations with the car in random order-

From the outside, the Roxx looks huge, but from the driving seat, it's very easy to drive. The ergonomics looks fine.

The overall visibility from the commanding driver's seat makes things easy on congested roads. The blind spots are negligible, plus the driver can see the full bonnet.
The ORVM coverage is good too.
The 360-degree camera and all the other electronic aids make this car very easy to drive.

The steering is light. It weighs up with speed. Highspeed maneuvers do not feel nervous. The steering auto centers perfectly after a 'U' turn. The steering precision is okay. I never had a problem placing the front wheel on my desired path. This was a problem with earlier Mahinda's with a vague steering precision. It's much much improved now.

The ride and handling are miles ahead of the Thar 3-door. Though the ride, especially on the rear is a bit bumpy on bad roads, it's still acceptable. I won't say the ride quality is plush, but for a body-on-frame rugged SUV, the ride quality is okay.

Body roll can be felt on turns and sharp maneuvers. But that is not unusual for a BOF SUV.

The seats felt comfortable with enough support and space.

The footwell was pretty narrow. On long drives, it may hurt!

The clutch is light but the travel is on the longer side.

The gear shift felt rubbery. It lacks the Japanese feel.

The diesel engine is super smooth. At low RPMs, this engine demands 1st gear, which came as a surprise to me! While crossing the road humps, the car demands 1st! I expected it to be effortless on the 2nd!
But revving this engine is fun! Just tap the A pedal and this car gains speed pretty fast. Highway drives will be fun. Cruising on triple digit speed is an effortless job for this engine. This car should be a very good highway cruiser!

The NVH management is overall good, but if one lugs the engine, the body vibration is on the higher side. This can be felt on the gear lever as well.

The brakes are good! Even at high speed without any downshift, the brakes can slow down the Roxx pretty fast. Plus harsh braking does not affect the dynamics of the car. It comes to a halt in a straight line without any fuss. The electronic aids work as expected.

The AC cools well. But December is not the right time to comment on the effectiveness of the AC!

The sound from the stock music system was good.

Coming from the Jimny, it feels like an upgrade, except that Mahindra has not provided a 4WD in the petrol Roxx. Hence, if a Jimny owner wants to go for an upgrade, one may not consider the Roxx after all. (Possibly one has to wait for Renualt to launch the Duster 1.3L turbo petrol with AWD! rl:)

Jokes apart, if one is okay with owning a diesel, then the Thar Roxx 4x4 will be a good buy. :thumbs up

On the other hand, with all the discounts from Toyota, the Hilux is also not much far away in terms of pricing from the Thar Roxx top end diesel 4x4!

And, for those who do not need 7 seats or 4x4, but are looking for a rugged 5-seater SUV with enough space, then the Roxx petrol is a good option.

At the price of a Creta/Seltos this car offers more value. But if one is looking for more highway drives rather than driving on bad roads then the monocoque crossovers are more comfortable & fun to drive.

The Roxx looks imposing look from the outside -

After trying to get used to the space crunch in Jimmy's rear seat, this felt great!

Mahindra Thar Roxx Review-2-2.jpg

Notice how fast the white seats get dirty! This car has not even crossed 3,000 km!

Enough boot space to pack the holiday luggage.

The panoramic sunroof is huge and gives the cabin an airy feel.

After driving this car, my wife's comment was - if she buys a 5-seater 2WD, then it should be something like a Taigun/Kushaq!

Mahindra Thar Roxx Review-5-1.jpg

The 360-degree camera was helpful while taking turns. Am not used to this feature, so my eyes were going to the ORVMs first!

The center console looks neat!

Mahindra Thar Roxx Review-5-3.jpg

I would have preferred something retro, but the market demands this.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Review-5-4.jpg

No insulation provided under the hood, but still this engine felt silent. This is a gem of an engine from Mahindra.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Review-img_3796.jpg

These kids loved the Roxx and gave a thumbs up while we were waiting at a signal. Compliments coming from kids are always special as they always speak their hearts out. So this car must be a looker!

Mahindra Thar Roxx Review-6.jpg

I really like the Roxx, it has that solid rugged look. Only the Diesel variant getting a 4WD is a bummer, hopefully Mahindra will fill that up in the future. Technically is there a reason for not providing a petrol 4WD version? Probably the extra hardware weight would have increased the fuel consumption even further for a petrol engine, but shouldn't be reason enough.

The car looks great in white but, the white material on the door pads and the seats would be a constant maintenance headache.

Standing today you would have still gone for Jimny? I guess the answer is a Yes.

Coming to your review, it's fantastically put down as always. Neat and precise with relevant anecdotes. The last snap summarizes the appeal that Roxx has on the onlookers, perfectly captured!

Congratulations on the purchase! Thinking to book ROXX AX7L P AT but confused with Creta N Line N10 DCT. What factors motivated you to go ahead with ROXX?

And then that is because her reason for choosing a car is binary. :uncontrol

My first thought from the navigation seat was "Wow this car is spacious!" Seats are snug. Compared to the Jimny where longer drives are not kind to my already herniated back, the navigator-side comfort is great! Jimny transmits all sorts of road vibrations. Samba does not like me saying it about his favourite offroader i.e. the Jimny but I will say it, being anywhere other than the driver's seat is a pain in the wrong place (literally rl:)

So from that perspective, the body roll is less, the navigator comfort is higher, road vibrations and outside noises are well-masked.

Then when I heard that the petrol doesn't have a 4x4/AWD, I was a little taken aback. Isn't the essence of the Thar supposed to be hardcore offroader?

And then I sat in the driver's seat, and sort of figured that this one is not for me. For a heavy car as this, the steering really felt light somehow and I was never comfortable. Driver-side leg space is very less. And why Diesel at this time, why not focus on Petrol 4x4?

The car zips well for a Body on Frame. I guess this is for a certain category of buyers for whom big cars on city roads mean something. Not me.

After selling my 3D Thar I looked at other cars <20L and I was open to buying a Non Mahindra.

My family already has Creata Hector and ScorpioN so they weren an option. I was absolutely sold on MG Windsor based on my low usage and the fit finish and interiors of the car. My sister liked Seltos a lot.

5D Thar was the last car car we test drove and it took my 58yr old mother all of 2 mins to veto every other car and asked me to book this. She liked the spaciousness that white interiors give, all around visibility, and the fact that you climb inside the car. Her first response after sitting inside was - Now this is a proper SUV. I too thought the car was brilliant so had zero complaints with this decision.

Sorry for digressing a bit, but need advice from fellow bhpians with more 4X4 experience.

I have a 2018 Ecosport and have been wanting to add a 4X4 vehicle for one off trips to the mountains in snow. I have taken my car to Himachal in Dec-20 as there was no snow and it was quite clear. I am pretty sure the Ecosport can do Ladakh etc as well in summer.

But had always wanted to do snow trips in a car (influenced by youtube, guilty as charged). So always knew the second car needs to be a 4X4. I won't be doing any "intentional" offroading where people take it to terrains like sand etc to test the limits.

Lately, a lot of videos of even 4X4 vehicles like Fortuners, Jimnys slipping like anything in snow (black ice) are surfacing. So I am a bit confused now. I know every vehicle has its limits and even a 4X4 is not invincible.

But for snow trips, if more often than not, to tackle such situations I need snow chains on, do I even need a 4X4? Would my Ecosport not be capable with chains?

Or is it a skill issue? With the right driver, the chains won't be needed on a 4X4?

PS - Have a AX7L D AT 4X4, Red with Mocha booking, tentative Delivery Apr-May 2025
