On a general note - We all hated the odd kink of metalwork over the rear door. The easy fix is to have a vinyl based sticker or paint that odd bit in the same color as the roof.
However, I haven't seen anybody fix the oddity. Did everybody just get used to it? |
You get used to it, I had planned for two options: Vinyl the kink in matte black or paint the black triangular part in body color. Like this:
Few days after delivery, my eyes didn't even notice it any more.

Have you done this in white or thinking of doing so.

I got the Battleship grey and won't be going ahead with it. Seeing increasing number of Roxx on the roads, I got accustomed to it.
First Service Experience Thar Roxx (MX3 P AT) Service Tasks & Requests:
• Apple CarPlay Activation
• Fog Light Switch Unlock
• Service Duration & Executive Behavior
Experience:
I bought my Thar Roxx on December 19 and have driven 1,800 km so far, including two trips from Chandigarh to Himachal Pradesh. Around 1,500 km, the MID started displaying a "Service Due" notification every 25 km or each time I started the car, even though the manual states that the first service is due at 2,000 km.
I booked a 2:00 PM slot at Harbir Mahindra, Chandigarh, and arrived on time. However, due to a queue of cars, my vehicle was attended to only by 3:30 PM.
The executive asked if I had any issues with the car, but I reported none. From 3:30 PM to 5:50 PM, the service team performed a basic check-up as per their schedule—tightening bolts, inspecting components, and topping up the washer fluid. This was followed by a wash and polish from 5:50 PM to 6:15 PM, marking the end of the standard service.
Software Unlock Requests:
Before leaving, I inquired with the main executive about any software updates for the Roxx, but he said there weren’t any. I also asked about activating the fog light switch, to which he replied that Mahindra had restricted them from enabling it.
Just as I was about to leave, I spotted an engineer with a laptop and asked him if he could activate the fog light switch. He agreed and spent 20 minutes trying with two different software versions, but it didn’t work. He assured me that Mahindra hasn’t enabled the option yet but might in the next service.
Then, unexpectedly, he asked, "Sir, do you want Apple CarPlay activated?"
I mentioned that I had already asked the main service executive about updates, and he had denied any. The engineer clarified that while there’s no new update, CarPlay is present in all software versions—it just needs to be unlocked. Within 5 minutes, he activated Apple CarPlay on my system.
Summary:
1. Excessive waiting time – The actual service was more of a routine check-up but took far too long.
2. Friendly and helpful staff – The executives were polite, even though they aren’t allowed to entertain software unlock requests.
3. Software unlocks are possible – If you find the right technician or you have some links.
4. Fog light activation is currently locked – Mahindra hasn’t enabled the option in the system yet, but it should be available in the future.
5. CarPlay can be unlocked on any software version – You just need to find a cooperative engineer.

So how are these Karol Bagh guys doing it with the actual fog lamp buttons? |
I knew about this karol bagh hack. Not clue on how they enable fog from original switch.
However I didn't want to get any electric work done outside Mahindra dealership within the first 3 years of warranty. For work done in dealership, i have the stamped bill for fog fitment installation.

I am little confused by this. Do you mean to say that if you find someone at the SC who is cooperative enough, they can unlock carplay in the infotainment for you?
Has anyone been able to find a solution for the white seat covers. It’s been 2 months since i got my car delivered but I have not removed the plastics from my seats.
I was wondering if there are any sort of seat protectors that could be used.
I am not willing to replace the seat covers because of the ventilated seats

Just got a call from my dealer in Mumbai (Mulund) that my car is allotted. It is well before the earlier timeline of Apr-May 2025. I was in two minds though and was about to cancel the booking. I was going to take it under company lease, though wanted delivery in FY25 as it would have been the best wrt taxes, which is the case now.
But I hadn't planned for this early a delivery (funds wise), so there is a high chance I might cancel and see later. I don't know how it works but if any of you is interested and they can allot it to you, you can DM me. In case I end up cancelling that is.
Model - AX7L D AT, Red, Mocha interiors. |
A query regarding this - now that the car is allotted, if I cancel it, will I forfeit the entire booking amount? Thanks.

As a company policy they will deduct 10% of your booking amount and refund the rest.
But in my experience if it is an online booking, Mahindra ended up refunding the complete amount.

Keep a leather cleaner handy at home (unfortunately the boot has no compartments), bought one yesterday from Toyota service centre. Wipe any stains the very next day.

After obsessively watching mod videos of Thar Roxx, I realized a lot of owners are changing upholstery even in the top end. I am in touch with a lot of these installers and they are saying that ventilation will keep working as it is. Airbags cannot be tested but as per my understanding, it shouldn't be an issue either. I am planning to go for full black seats as it will go well with the rest of the stock interior and I can fix the poor underthigh support issue too. It will be done by completely removing the stock seat cover and fitting the new one, not the traditional seat cover method. I am however concerned about the fabric quality, need to check it in person but from videos I have seen it looks pretty neat.

Kindly refer to this article-

This is a very insightful read. Thanks for sharing. I am surely in a dilemma now whether I should go ahead or not. I went through all the comments and some other info as well, and honestly, it appears that even though there are so many variables involved, even the manufacturer cannot ensure them to be in place out of factory environment. OEMs in India are selling seat covers for cars as well that come with provision for airbags (mostly an opening on the side), so I guess it is a risk in every case.
In simple terms, will keeping a loose stitch on the sides while the original fabric is completely removed be sufficient? I know it cannot be guaranteed, but I was looking forward to it.

This article led me to research as well. Finally zero'd in on this product:
https://semproducts.com/product/colo...osols/aerosols.
Just need a patient applicator and confirmation from SEM it will hold up in our Summers, upwards of 50 degrees celsius might not be something they had in mind while developing the product.

Mahindra will officially push an overall firmware update within the next 6-8 months, in which Apple CarPlay will be available for everyone (because Thar Roxx is yet to officially receive the license for Apple CarPlay). That's why random units have the CarPlay and mostly don't.
But the CarPlay is present in all the firmware versions, just locked for the masses till the time "Roxx" receives the license from Apple. But if you can find a cooperative staff member at the service centre, they can easily unlock it for you.
