Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

BP outlets have differential pricing at few outlets namely COCO near Sangam bridge, Kasat (near Harshal hall, Karve road) & one near Ranka jewellers on Sinhgad road. These are termed as platinum outlets for BP & charge additional 5/6 paise per litre of diesel.

I noticed this recently when I filled in diesel twice within 24 hours, once at Kulkarni pump on Laxmi road & then at Kasat pump. On asking about difference in price, attendant at Kasat pump shared above information.

Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

Guys, is shell petrol still expensive to others like say HP/BP? If so, by how much? I have been continuously filling from Shell Hinjewadi because they have never cheated me even once and have been very courteous apart from offering a complimentary windshield cleaning and topping up of wiper liquid. There is board outside which says that shell petrol is now at normal rates. Just wanted to understand if its true?

Also OT, has anyone done an oil and filter change at shell Hinjewadi? My car is due for a service and I am wondering if its better to get it done at the service center itself or at the Shell outlet. Any pointers/suggestions would help

Yes, Shell is somewhat expensive by 60-70 paisa. Last week, diesel rates were 56.08 (PSU) Vs 56.65 (Shell).

Have done oil change at Shell, warje for Innova. They didn't stock oil filter, I procured from outside and got oil, oil filter changed at Shell, warje. Attendants had to seek help of their manager to remove oil filter. They were fitting adjustable wrench straight & it was slipping whereas it had to be fitted at an angle to make it work.
This was an out-of-band oil change for Innova & chose to visit to Shell instead of DSK Toyota for oil change.

Overall experience was good at Shell, added benefit was discount of Rs.3/litre on diesel as I had bought oil can of 7.5 litres at Shell bunk.

Don't know which car you would be taking there for oil change, but please check availability of oil filter. If they don't have it, please procure it from outside. I had picked up Purolator oil filter for innova from Aru Traders, Karve road.

Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

Thanks!. I was thinking of taking our petrol i20 for now because its due for its service this/next week. Since I got to know of the oil change at Shell with no labour cost and the fact that it will be done in front of me, made me think if I should give it a shot but was not sure and did not want to get fleeced. So thought of taking some help here.

I have observed this on couple of occasions on the HP petrol pump in Mundhawa/Kharadi. The pump which is on left side when you are going towards Kharadi from Mundhawa bridge.

If its of any help , a couple of days ago the HP Bunk was selling regular petrol at 63.85 , while I shelled out 64.4 for a liter at Shell.

I fell to that trick twice, but it has stopped now.

Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

I was cheated by Jai Hind petrol pump attendant this Tuesday (27th Sept) when I went there to fill petrol in my scooter. Jai Hind petrol pump is located at main chowk above railway station of Chinchwad.

I asked the attendant to fill petrol worth Rs. 200. He put the nozzle in scooter petrol inlet and when I gave 200 Rs. he returned saying its more than the amount. I told him to fill for 200 and same time saw 60 in upper row of the display and nothing at bottom row (there are 2 rows in display).

Then he said sorry sir I will fill 140 Rs. Petrol more. I suspected that he didn't start filling when the display showed 60,instead he just set it and showed me. So after filling even asked him casually that did you fill for Rs. 200 to which he nodded in positive.

After 2-3 days I realized that he had filled in less petrol. Please be very very alert at this petrol pump.

I had already done escalation to Bharat Petroleum for same issue in 2010 when they used to do this trick i.e. first show 50 Rs. and then fill 150. Looks like they have started it again.

If any member has knowledge of these machines, then please educate us. I could not figure out if he had already filled petrol worth 60 or not because I do not know how these machines work.

Beware at the BPCL-baner road petrol pump, staff is believed to be cheating customers. Read the below TOI news.

Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

There are two petrol pumps on Vishrantwadi-Airport road. Indian Oil Petrol Pump (Vishrantwadi side) and the HP Kekan Petrol Pump (Airport side).

I've observed many times that attendants on both of these petrol pumps would fill only 200-300 Rs petrol even if we ask them for full tank. Then later, they behave as if they misunderstood and continue to fill petrol till the tank is full (they do not reset the meter, thanks to our negligence). Once the tank is full, they will ask you to pay 200 or 300 (whatever was initial amount) and convince you that they did reset the counter before continuing.

Recently I've been keeping my eyes on the meter even if they try to divert my attention somewhere. This way I've caught them several times. They shamelessly smile when I ask them 'why would you fill Rs. 300/200 petrol when I asked to fill the tankful? How come a guy with a car would fill petrol worth Rs.200?'

So, if you're filling petrol at these stations, please beware.

Thanks!

Exactly similar observation on my side too.

To add to the list is HP Petrol bunk on Alandi-Road just off Vishrantwadi towards Dighi. They also do the nuisance of talking to their colleagues and spilling petrol around the bike or car's fuel filler area.

Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

Oh, I thought that one was better than the two I wrote about. Wait a minute, AFAIK there are two HP petrol pumps on Vishrantwadi-Dighi road. One of them is a small pump (just a couple of hundred meters from Vishrantwadi) and a bigger one (near Kalas).

I thought the one near Kalas was better. Is that the one you're talking about?

Re: Trusted/Untrusted Petrol Pumps in Pune

0.75% discount for cashless fuel payment: Tried payment via debit card at 2 different outlets. Filled diesel at BP outlet(Select Auto, Karve road) and received discount amount in 4 days in my bank account. On second instance, tried HP outlet(Shinde petrol pump, Bavdhan) for filling petrol in 2-wheeler; discount amount is yet to get credited in bank account even after 7 days.
Another way to know trustworthiness.
